Waiting in for a Mr T delivery then we'll go to my parents who live by the beach and hopefully get a nice long walk in.:)

    .

Got plenty done off my list today, so I am happy. We've had a lovely afternoon at my parents, went for a walk to the library and then walked back on the beach playing boule with the kids. Nice dry, mild brightish day :) Love living here, we must make more of an effort to go there on weekends, usually everyone comes to us as we have more space but it doesn't really compare with a view of the beach on a fine day etc

Bob, I always said that if ds2 was actually born a dd they'd have to have ds1's clothes anyway as I didn't do pink and they'd also have to have a short back and sides hair cut as I can't do girls hair! (not even my own other then brush it!! :rotfl:)

I have a son and 2 daughters, the son being the eldest. DD1 had all her brother's clothes (dungarees are practical for crawling babies, right?), and DD2, who came along several years after I had got rid of all the baby clothes, had hand me downs from her (boy) cousin. Doesn't seem to have done them any harm, though like me they both live in jeans rather than dresses, get annoyed if their hair gets too long, and like outdoor type pursuits :rotfl:

    Evening DFW-Ninjas,

A work day today, and what a day it was!

    Wee list today:

    Debt-Free Nillionaire Month 5:

    * Took a packed lunch to work. Didn't eat the chocolate; brought it back home again for tomorrow.

    * Use Ancestry subscription.

    * Did Tax Credits claim form. Just know this is going to result in another 'mess', it usually does! :o

    Have a good weekend everyone.

  • Evening all :D
Still plodding on, but feeling as though I've forgotten to do something because it's half past six and I'm sitting here, thinking about going to get into bed (mainly to avoid putting the heating on but I feel absolutely exhausted). Kept myself busy all day and even managed to find an hour earlier to do a bit of reading, which is a rare occurrence these days...
Thanks Foxgloves, for your kind words. I confess it has been a tough couple of weeks and I don't see any end in sight as far as dh is concerned. It is only 2 weeks until half term though so that countdown is on... I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder myself a couple of years ago - I threw myself into cbt and found it completely life changing. My dh won't entertain the idea of talking to anyone at the moment.
Princess_pea - I always forget about Fenwick's window because it's so rare that I go into Newcastle - but I'll pencil it into my plans as an option for a bit of time away.
Yorkshirelass - hope things have improved as the day has gone on.

[STRIKE]:) Post my letters re PPI claim[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]:) batch cooking day[/STRIKE] loads of food in the house!
    [STRIKE]:) tutoring[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]:) take dd to her tumbling class[/STRIKE]
:) get ds to clear the floor in his room so I can change his bed
    [STRIKE]:) aim for nsd[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]:) try not to stress[/STRIKE]
Unsurprisingly I am still waiting for ds to clear his floor - so he doesn't get clean bed until I get clean floor. Horrible mother that I am.

Sorry to hear many folk are having mental health challenges this weekend:

Recently these things have helped me. Maybe something in my ramblings will help someone:

    * Rewarding/bribing myself: "If I complete that complicated claim form I'll reward myself by listening to some favourite music."

    * Getting support: For me, my OH is my rock, but if you need support outside your family MIND, the mental health charity, has a Support Community. I've heard it's friendly. (Link)

    * Getting out the house: Exposing yourself to some sunlight can improve mood. It seems that humans need sunlight to be happy. Neuro-scientists have linked low Serotonin levels to depression and seen that Serotonin levels rise in the brain on sunny days. Bright light is thought to improve mood by activating neurons in your brain that contain Serotonin. I find if I'm really low half an hour outside cheers me up, even if that means sitting on the back doorstep with a cup of coffee in a dressing gown and slippers watching the birds fly past or settle in our garden.

    * Distracting myself: When my mind is full of 'rubbish' thoughts sometimes I can change the way I feel by doing something complicated because I am a bear-of-very-little-brain and I can't worry and do complicated things at the same time! Sudoku puzzles help a bit. Researching my ancestors helps a lot. Daytime TV doesn't help me at all.

  • Thanks for this Ally - full of fantastic and wise words as always... I appreciate it. May go onto the community on Mind.

    Thanks Ally.
For me the distracting myself is a big help , also if I have bad thoughts I find that putting on an old fave cd really helps (Westlife has been on a lot recently, happy fluffy music that I know every word of, belting it out :p )
  • Ally, and others, I am struggling a bit with my anxiety at the moment. Keep the helpful information coming.

I have two challenges for the coming week, other than the usual DFW stuff. One is to do some things that make me happy. The other is to get some things crossed off my to do list. Small steps are needed here at the moment.
