If you have the interest applied annually, then it's meant to be credited on 22/8. Hopefully it will be there tomorrow (my mum's isn't showing today). Is the 19th for monthly interest?

Given NR's current problems, I think I'm going to move my mum's savings elsewhere once it's been credited. I know it's unlikely that NR will go under but she has more than £35K in there and why take the risk when you can get the same rates elsewhere?

Same here. Hubby closed his on Friday and I closed two others on Monday. You don't need to wait until the interest has been added, when you close your account they will automatically add the interest due up to that date and include it in your closing balance.

Today hubby received a statement showing interest paid and tax deducted. Never known a building society get that information out to you as quick as that before when closing an account, shame their website doesn't work with such speed - one of the reasons we closed the account, the slowness of it drove us to distraction!

Interest is showing today. I've now transferred the money out just to be on the safe side to Sainsbury's (6.25%).

Tom'smum, I couldn't agree more about the website - very slow and cumbersome to use.

Ours went into Sainsburys too Tipsychick, much more user friendly site and the difference in interest is negligible.

Tom's mum - agree 100% - my own savings now on their way to Sainsbury's after having been driven mad by the n.r. website. Also, I find the fact that they don't show your interest on the day they say they will very irritating.

mine is applied on the 19th of the month, and yes, the interest was credited fine at close of business on that date.

I think you'll find it's credited at the end of the day on which it is due to be paid.

except that it hasn't been this month

Well I checked last night and it has been credited to Hubbys account.

cheers, mine has been added this morning although, unlike your hubby's account, the interest wasn't showing in mine as of 11.38pm last night.
