Need to remove XP

Options
I have been given a PC to repair. it has no discs with it, It has had XP installed, which keeps asking for WGA on bootup my advice was to remove XP and put back the original O/S win 98. I need to remove XP and re-format but for reasons unknown to me (I don't use XP myself) it will not allow me to do so. How do I remove XP and perform a re-format so I can start from scratch again.
regards

I would use the win98 cd to boot the pc with cd rom support

It has been a while and my 98 cd is in the car I cant be bothered unlocking the doors now. I cant remember the location of fdisk.exe on the windows cd it is either in the \win98 folder or

Anyway deleteing apartition will wipe any data stored on it so back everything needed up before going any further.

To remove an NTFS partiton run fdisk agree to treat NTFS partitions as large disks and hit enter
option 3 Delete partition or Logical DOS Drive
then option 4 Delete Non-DOS Partition
Enter 1 for the primary partition to delete if it is the correct drive and enter the volume name, it is adviseable to disconnect any other dries before useing Fdisk to prevent mistakes.
Then confirm you want to delete the partition with y for yes.

You could then go on to create a partition and format it as posted above I would jsut reboot and start windows setup if your not too advanced.

I normally format and make it bootable then copy the win98 folder from the cd to the hard drive and run the install from the hard drive as it results in a quicker install and no need to constantly be putting the cd in if windows makes any changes or updates that need the cd as it already has access to the install files.
