You may want to choose to switch to a Firefox alternative if problems persist. Waterfox and Cyberfox are good. I ditched Firefox myself as a result of it crashing and 'not responding' umpteen times per day.

And there are lots of things that AVG won't catch, I'd suggest at least a Malwarebytes scan.

Re Malware bytes, had a problem with this a while back , it would not install, am using AVG..

I would dump AVG and install Avast instead, it works fine alongside Malwarebytes on my PCs. And don't forget, Malwarebytes does a different job to Antivirus programmes.

Re Malwarebytes, see this post from this thread.

    Have removed the following; -

Java ™ Platform SE 6 U33 3 Known to be vulnerable and should be updated. Set for “ask to activate”

QuickTime Plug-in 7.1.6 3 Known to be vulnerable and should be updated. Set for “ask to activate”

But this one: - Java Deployment Toolkit 6.0.330.3 Known to be vulnerable. Use with caution. Set for “ask to activate”, is nowhere for me to remove, but Firefox have it blocked from use anyway.

install the missing drivers or buy the new machine you've been asking about for ages

firefox causing a machine reboot is unusual, as is an anti virus product finding viruses on a newly installed system, if they were virus detections
Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand
