Faulty Car Seat - 18 months after purchase

Hi there

I purchased a Joie Stages car seat from Kiddicare on 4th January 2014. I still have my receipt. It is a fantastic seat advertised to last your child from birth to 7 years. We have been really happy with the seat and have since bought another 1 from a different retailer for a 2nd car.

However about a month ago my car seat became faulty, the head rest is wobbling and when he isnt in the car it rattles.

I have contacted kiddicare who asked me to send a video, which I did the same day. Although they are unable to view the video and I plan to send it again, the lady said in any case as its out of 1 year warranty, they could collect and inspect it but it would be at a cost of £29.95, to me!!!

Can they do this? What are my rights? It should last the 7 years, if thats whats its advertised to do, surely. I would just like them to replace it.

Not quite. Someone will be along soon enough to help but you'll probably have to have it inspected to show the fault is a design issue. If you've broken it yourself, obviously it's not their problem.

After 6 months, it is up to you to prove that it is inherently faulty.

Then the 1979 sale of goods act applies.

Could you get an independent report stating it is faulty?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Saying something will last from birth to 7 isn't the same as offering a 7 year warranty.

After all, surely 7 year olds come in all sorts of shapes and sizes?
