New tv not working

I have just had a new tv delivered today ready for my Dd's Birthday. I plugged it in, switched it on and the screen remains blank. The power light is a steady blue. If I press a button on the tv/remote the blue light flashes, indicating it is working. But still the screen remains blank. It is a brand new Tecknika LCD…

I'll stick this obvious one in here in case it helps - I've experience of a few Panasonics, and you have to HOLD the power button for, say, 2 seconds (the light on the TV will flash) until the TV will actually power or (or off). Tried that?
