I have just had a new tv delivered today ready for my Dd's Birthday. I plugged it in, switched it on and the screen remains blank. The power light is a steady blue. If I press a button on the tv/remote the blue light flashes, indicating it is working. But still the screen remains blank. It is a brand new Tecknika LCD 19-248.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I had the same with a similar cheap brand TV.
Send it back.
Turns out for me that it needed a firmware upgrade !

Have you read the manual?

It says, if you do power it up and press the standby button, you should get the initial set-up screen.
If not, then on the remote control, press MENU then 8 8 8 8 and the menu should appear.
Hope that helps.0 -
Can you give a little more information about what you have connected your TV. I mean, are you using a roof aerial, input from a sky box/freeview box... this should help us give you a better answer.0

Ah, The reason for the question about the inputs was because sometimes you get to choose the input "source" through the remote so making sure it is not on DVD/Axuillary/SKY/Freeview by mistake. This does not seem so relevant given you reply.0

Strange. Technika's don't usually stop working until they're at least a year old...
If they offer you a refund, grab it, and go to Richer Sounds for a decent budget brand. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
