24 hour cancellation policy - Easy Jet?

Hi

My OH has managed to book a hol by mistake with EJ. He only did it this morning and I understand there's a 24 cancellation policy - however they seem to be keeping it very quite how do to this - could anybody help? I've e-mailed them but they say they'll respond within 48 hours and I don't want to get caught out!

Has anybody done this before?

Taken from point 3 on here
    Refunds and cancellation fees

easyJet is a non-refund airline save as provided in our "Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage" and in these Carrier's Regulations.
    Conditions of Carriage Article 6.6
You may cancel your booking within 24 hours of making the original booking. Please note a cancellation can only be processed up to two (2) hours prior to the flight's scheduled departure time. You will receive a refund (including APD but excluding any credit card, transfer, speedy boarding, sports equipment, or other administrative fees). A cancellation fee per passenger per journey will be charged in accordance with the table below. Cancellation must be made via our call centre on easyJet regrets that it is unable to offer refunds in the event of passengers being unable to fly owing to any change in personal circumstances, including but not limited to medical grounds, with the exception of the application of the 24 hour cancellation policy.
In exceptional circumstances, however, easyJet will consider issuing a credit in the event of the bereavement of an immediate family member (mother, father, brother, sister, grandparent or child) provided that the claim and a copy of the death certificate are submitted by post to the easyJet Customer Services Department.
All claims will be assessed entirely at the discretion of easyJet. This credit will be to the value of the original fare paid less an administration fee (equivalent to the cancellation fee in the table below) per passenger per journey and can be used against any future flights on easyJet within the following six month period.
easyJet strongly recommends passengers obtain adequate travel insurance to cover them in such circumstances.

  • OMG - I've ended up having to pay £115 for a holiday that was booked for less than 1 hour!!!!!!!!!!!! This consists of £17.50 each (2 of us) per flight cancellation fee, £20 hotel cancellation, £15 speedy boarding non refundable, £10 hold baggage fee non refundable.

Please if anybody can learn something from this I'd at least feel that my wasted money did something!!! BEWARE THE CANCELLATION FEES OF EASY JET - not so Easy refund eh! They make it very very hard to actually see the cost to yourself if you make a mistake - I wonder how this stands with cooling off periods?????

You have no right to a cooling off period under the Distance Selling Regulations.

Most (cheap) flights are not refundable.

It's easy enough - don't book things unless you want to buy them.

How can you book a holiday by mistake ? You either do it or not. You can accidently put in the wrong date ie an 8 instead of a 9, misspell a name but you cant book a whole holiday by mistake! (can you?).
To book it by mistake you would have to accidently input your dates and destination, accidently click book, accidently input the passengers names, accidently give your address, accidently take your credit or debit card out your purse/wallet and accidently type the number and valid to/from dates allong with the number on the back, accidently read the T&Cs and confirm you read and understood them (even if you didnt ) before accidently confirming you want to go ahead with the booking and pay for it.
Only then, will those robbing gits, deliberately take your money !!!

If you tried to do the same with most of the Inclusive Tour operators you would be faced with the same problem. The moral of this story is read the terms and conditions carefully before you click to buy.

  • I really love this website - it's a case of everybody helping others out with tips, ideas and answers to direct questions. The only downside is the sados who obviously have nothing better to do with their days other than put nasty, sarcastic and not ACCIDENTAL responses after other MSErs have simply highlighted the costs of their own mistakes so as to hopefully prevent anybody else from being so daft!!

Everybody's entitled to make a mistake but I take more pity on the sado who feels the need to make the response he did - get over yersel and get a life!

I'm intrigued (and not being sarcastic) how can you book a holiday by mistake? If you tell us, it might help others to avoid the same issues?

Maybe you could have elaborated a little more on how he managed to book a holiday by mistake as I expect most people reading this will be saying to themselves "How on earth do you........................". It may have possibly bought about a more sympathetic response.
TBH Budgetflyer does have a point even if it has been emphasized quite flipantly.
