Advice for customer who purchased with curry through e-vouchers

I bought some E-vouchers through a work benefit scheme. We ordered a new tv with curry and were told it would be 2-4 weeks, we had no problem with this.
Its now 6 weeks on and were still waiting for our TV having been told 3 times now it should be with us in a couple of days.
I contacted curry customer services yesterday and told them I'm not happy they have breached their contract and id like to take my business elsewhere. In turn i require my E-vouchers back in cash to allow me to go else where.
i was told they can't do this they have to give me my vouchers back and put me back in the same position that i started. (but they want to send me gift vouchers in the post and will take 7 days) this isn't the same as where we started.

I've been reasonable I've asked them if i can pay an extra £200 pound and upgrade the product to one that is in stock ready to deliver.

They have told me i can only change my order to something within £50 of the original price. this just seems ridiculous that they are turning down the extra money and freeing up a TV for someone else on the waiting list.

How can this be? Where do i stand i really would like to just take my business elsewhere.

Help please

Did you place the order online or in a store?

If online, they have 14 days from the date of your order cancellation to refund you.

It is perfectly reasonable to refund you in the same way as you paid. I.e. you get a refund in vouchers or gift card or anything else that you can only spend in Currys.

When you get your [STRIKE]vouchers[/STRIKE] gift card(s), put £200 to it and buy the television you want.
  • thanks for the reply it was online, but getting the vouchers back goes against my point. i had instant e vouchers i shouldn't have to wait for 7 days for the vouchers to be sent back. why can't that process it as an exchange like they would if it was in store?

so i have no right to be able to take my business elsewhere? and get the vouchers refunded

Yes, I think that sums up your position quite well.

Just by way of a possible explanation:

You say you "bought some E-vouchers through a work benefit scheme".

It is possible, indeed highly likely, that whoever purchased these vouchers from Currys did so at a significant discount. If Currys were to refund you in cash, then they would not only lose that discount, but also the profit that was to be expected when you spend those vouchers.
  • I've asked for the vouchers to be e vouchers and said i will try and get my money back through the scheme i bought them from but don't see why i should have to wait 7 days.

I've been fully reasonable with them but they just art flexible.

i really can't get my head around though how they can refuse to take an increased payment of extra 200 for an upgrade as its a security risk?

    Good idea.

...but don't see why i should have to wait 7 days.
As I said, the law allows them 14 days, so 7 days is quite quick.
If you want to change the law, then you need to speak to your MP.

I've been fully reasonable with them but they just art flexible.
I've tried to explain why that might be.

No, I don't understand that either, but if that's the way they want to do business, then so be it.
