    ....yeah right

So that will just like when Lloyds bank introduced extra requirements before they would pay interest on their vantage accounts and reduced the interest around the same time.
Or like the changes now being made by Santander to their accounts which will cost customers more.
    I could go on.

Sounds like @Hattie625 knows exactly how the world works - lure your customers in with various short term offers, then after a bit quietly reduce the offers knowing that a fair proportion of your customers will not notice and will not move.

A very long time ago the then CEO of the long departed Alliance building society dismissively called such savers rate tarts - he apparently hated them.

I can see Tesco limiting it to one per person before they change the rate. It's the way TSB Classic Plus, Santander 123 and many before them have gone. They might even close a person's second account (since they can close accounts when they like subject to notice without having to give a reason.)

Thanks again joe134. Yes, I think there has been an influx of applicants since Tesco got rid of the monthly fee, and the Santander 123 changes.

Incidentally, I'm aiming for 2 of these Tesco accounts but thought it would look better to open one, and then open the second one after a decent interlude of a few weeks. I didn't realise that you could open 2 accounts simultaneously without "questions being askedasked". I'm impressed by your efficiency in going for 2 together. Wow!
Actually, my OH did her 2 on the same day,and time scale, so it was 4.
We did already have instant saver A/cs with them, so had online banking set up, which made it easier, and quicker.
    Get your second in Asap.
As colsten says. Make hay, while the sun shines.

  • Even more impressed, 4 accounts on the same day, that's quite something. As soon as I can get onto online banking I hope to open the second account. Then I'll be looking at further options, Halifax or BoS or TSB or Lloyd's. Already have Santander 123. I went for Tesco after reading a thread here which said there was no DD requirement and no monthly minimum pay in required with Tesco, and no fee (didn't realise until after I started that there was a monthly fees until very recently). So Tesco seemed a good place to start off.

There's lots out there Hattie, and enough people on here to help you get it.
San 123 have always charged a fee, but are raising it, so unless you have a fair bit of cash in it, it's not viable.even with the cashback.
I have 4, 2 + 2 for OH, but, they are maxed out, so worthwhile , even after the new rise comes in.
Have all the others you mentioned also, as lots on here have.
Just needs a bit of patience.
The old Adage;Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves
    Happy banking.

Welcome letter, with sort code and account number now received. Also, letter with PIN received. Still waiting for debit card.

Today I transferred £3000 from another account online, using the Tesco account number and sort code. So I'm up and running.

Unfortunately I can't get into Tesco online banking as I don't have a Temporary Security Number. The website says that this will be texted to you if you provideda mobile number during the application process, which I did, but I haven't received a text with the TSN. Can anyone advise if this will come by letter perhaps? I'm anxious to get in to check that the £3K is showing, and also to start the process of opening the second account.

It's now 16 days from online application.
