Thank you Lego Mum for starting us off this morning.
We have no plans to leave the house today which is good as the weather is cold, grey & wet. I need to make the most of our day at home to make the rest of the week run smoothly, so a day of planning and organising it is. Both ds & dd are both under the weather and dd (and therefore me) had a broken nights sleep and is running a bit of a temperature.
Today as well as masses of housework I will be:
NSD
Check & reconcile bank accounts
Make elderberry syrup
Post on this thread for support, motivation and inspiration
Open curtains fully
Close curtains before it gets dark
Turn off lights and appliances not in use
Meal plan
B/L/D from stores
Renew library books
Soak porridge overnight
Set DW to run overnight
Set WM to run overnight
Unpack yesterday bags
Pack snacks
Make Thursday’s packed lunch
Check FPL
Educate children for free
Entertain children and us for free
Read Martin’s email

Whooo-hooo! It's a Bobbalina!! Well done, Bob, & take care!
f x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Hello Soggy Tuesday People (Or perhaps it's only us Midlanders who are experiencing this very wet, grey, blustery day today?) Another busy morning. Here are today's bits of money-saving behaviour:
*Usual little energy saving measures i.e Heated airer off first thing before the tariffs switched over, towel radiator on just for a couple of hours first thing, ditto dehumidifier, iron switched off for pressing final garment. Wish energy bill would arrive - Ally, have you had yours yet? We are in credit & I want to assess the latest bill & all its ramifications before asking for a refund.
*Had a big clothes sort out. All summer clothes folded & packed away for next year. Winter stuff unpacked, checked over & added to wardrobe. Had a good look to see what I might need to buy. I'm mostly ok, I think, but a nice black jumper would be really useful. If I could find one to go with 3 different skirts & 3 just-above-the-knee length dresses I already have, that would be 6 different outfits from one new garment. A pair of black trousers would be useful too, as current pair looking past their prime (much like my good self!) I do have a nice pair of newish jeans I haven't worn much, but there is currently slightly too much Foxgloves for not quite enough jean, if you see what I mean.
*Made spiced pickling vinegar ready to finish off my home made pickled onions later this afternoon. Did not have half the required spices but improvised with what I'd got in stock & it will be fine. I'm not going out in the rain for blades of mace. That would almost certainly lead to having a coffee & bun somewhere & my October 'Personal Spends' are very depleted already due to having bought moisturisers, make-up, etc.
*Sorted through our camping box, topped up all the comestibles (matches, tea-lights, tea towels, etc) so that we can just grab the box & go when we resume camping trips again next year. Just got to remind mr f to sort out gas cannisters then box will be sealed & stashed. Nothing to buy except some plastic multi-purpose pegs.......I'm thinking 99p Shop. Oh, & mended our tent bunting. Just cos you're camping, doesn't mean your tent can't still look a bit glam :-)
*Did quite a few surveys.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Use-it-up still ongoing. Currently using bizarre anti-wrinkle product from M-i-L. It looks quite expensive. It's a gluey substance which is supposed to polyfill in the cracks before I apply anything else. I've got good skin for my age, with not many wrinkles (though M-i-L clearly thinks differently!) l. I wouldn't spend money on this kind of product, but if I had done, I'd have wasted it, as it does b*gger all! Never mind, I'm using it up anyway. Decluttering & all that!
*Did next week's meal plans. A bit earlier than usual, but had been in & out of freezer & kept spotting things we could be eating.
*Cheapo dinner tonight - ys filled pasta & home made tomato pasta sauce.
*Do lots of important knitting.
*Look for my pear chutney recipe.
*Brave the rain to go & pick up today's windfall pears.
*Sort pears into piles according to ripeness.
*Eat some pears.
*Eat some more pears.
*See if mr f would like to eat some pears.
*See if there is any way mr f could convey a bag of pears to his Grandad.
*Or his Dad
*Or anyone.
*Plan lots more things to do with pears.
OK, off to sterilize jars & get those pickled onions finished - Ooooh, the glamour!
Love from
f x
P.S Legomum - I replied to your message, but my tablet was having a massive lala at the time & it may have eaten my reply. Hope not! If you didn't hear from me, I'll re-send.2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.

Huge Congratulations on the arrival of Miss Bob! :T
I had woken thinking about you this morning and was hoping for good news fairly soon.
As predicted - the commute from hell, but thankfully I had no teaching - just training. No dinner sorted tonight, dh is having a bad day. Thank goodness for frozen batch cooking.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »

CONGRATULATIONS BOB! I can't believe you got the bus! Almost surprised you didn't cycle! :rotfl:
Ha ha Twiggy. I actually did cycle to work and on the school run on Monday whilst in early labour. Yesterday I was in agony going to hospital so no chance. I think I made a few people uneasy on their morning commute put it that way
