Getting the 'throne seat' in a BA Airbus 380

If anyone is travelling cattle Class on a BA Airbus 380 in the future, be sure to check out the availability of seat 25D, the so called 'throne seat'.
Due to their being no seat in front of you i.e no 24D, to allow for crew access from underneath, you'll find yourself with more legroom than you could ever wish for.
(google BA A380 25D images, to see what I mean)
If you've already bought your ticket for a BA route thats using an A380, to snabble up the throne seat, you'll need to firstly see if its available. Click on manage your booking, click on select seats and see if 25D is available on the seating map. If it is, it should be the same price to preselect it as any other seat (IIRC, it's around £25), pay your money and Bob is indeed your Mums brother.
As far as I can tell, there are only 4 downsides to slecting 25D
1) BA will only let you select the seat if you select ALL the seats for your party at the same time.
2) the IFE will come from the arm in your chair, rather than being mounted on the seat back in front of you, making the seat slightly narrower
3) for operational reasons, BA relocate you intoi another part of the plane (this would really pop your balloon) &
4) If the plane is about to crash, the access hatch by your feet will open for the off duty members of crew to escape from 'down below'.
But if its £25 and its available, 25D must be an absolute steal.

This also applies minus escape hatch to 16C and 16H on a three class 777-200 (or 17C and 17H on some planes but be warned this row has no windows) and 29C and 29H on a 777-300.0

After enjoying the BA 25D Throne seat for a 10 hour flight, it was (possibly) the best £26 I've ever spent.
If its available for your flight, it would be rude to refuse it !0 -
I once had the get a flight from Singapore to Heathrow. The flight started in Australia so was almost full already when I checked in my seat. I was in the very back row in the middle seat of the middle row. According to those seat comparison websites it was the worst seat on the plane. I was dreading it.
However, it was probably one of the best seats and best sleep I've ever had on a plane, so it can work both ways.Pants0 -
Sorry, but the information given is incorrect ....Murphy_The_Cat wrote: »and Bob is indeed your Mums brother.
My Mum's brother was called John ... doesn't quite have the same ring, does it!
However ..... Bob IS my father-in-law's brother
Small world eh!
