Probably the sentence construction he/ she uses.

Given that most EU countries teach English at school (and to a far higher standard than we are taught foreign languages), I would think it more likely that the OP originates from further afield. But until they come back with more information we can't be sure of anything ... ;)

Those from outside the EU need to a visa to study in the UK and must show they have the funds to keep themselves to get that visa. When age 16, as the OP is, the parents must show they have the funds to send their child to a school in the UK and apply for a student visa. They know they are not allowed UK benefits.

How is a 16 year old EU citizen at school in the UK, when they are a dependent of their parents who are not working or living in the UK????????

    1. Are you/your parents citizens of the UK? or citizens of an EU country?

    2. Is your sister working? Or is she a student?

    3. What age is she, and what age are you?

    4. How long have you lived here? Were you born here?

I'm from Lithuania. Lithuania is EU. Yes my sister working. She 25 and I'm 16 years old. I live here for 4 months.

Hello everyone, I have this situation: in UK I live just with sister my parents in my country and I want ask can I get some benefits ? I'm studying at college ESOL.

Benefits for students in the UK, apart from council tax discount, are mainly restricted to those with disabilities/sickness and lone parents with dependents (single parents with children).

Are you in receipt of disability benefits like PIP, ESA, IB or ESA? Do you have any children?

Students mainly get their funding from their family or from working part time or from student finance (loans and grants) - ask your college or see the information here

He said he has only been here for 4 months. The UK stopped EUs claiming disabilty payments when they arrive. He is age 16.

As you are 16 years of age, legally you should be in education or in training/apprenticeship. Which is it?

It may well be that you are not entitled to any benefits - see :- http://www.rightsnet.org.uk/forums/viewthread/6256/

The OP has said they are in college.

Don't think ESOL is a qualifying course.
