O/S Daily Tuesday 6th October 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Still dark, looks like it’s stopped raining, but very wet underfoot, a heavy downpour in the very early hours woke me but I did manage to get back to sleep.

DH up and getting ready for work. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit but I’ll wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.

Dinner last night was pasta with bacon, peas and mushrooms in a creamy tomato sauce – I had a packet of chicken goujons in the freezer, so served those with it, as otherwise DH is moaning “where’s the meat?”. Tonight we should be having sausages and mash but I forgot to get the sausages out to defrost, so have got them out now, and will put them in the fridge before I leave for work, if they’re not defrosted I’ll have to re-think when I get home!

Work yesterday was as horrific as Saturday – I had a queue of customers waiting to be served from when we opened the doors until I finished after going for my lunch late as my colleagues were busy too! I tried not to look at the queue as I couldn’t see the end of it as it went that far through the office almost back to the Reception desk! But plus side was that it made the day fly by! I’m working at the other office today, and that just isn’t so pressurised as you don’t have the customer directly in front of you, but I’m sure it will be busy. Customers were moaning about waiting and when they were politely told that shortly they would be self serving, they were less than happy – but that’s the way it’s going to be. I have my own thoughts about it though I remain professional as I have to!

Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Raining this morning as it has been all night, that's our run of good weather over now but it is incredibly mild!

I'm off to Stirling Castle today with school, hope the weather improves!

HH - Hope your day isn't too taxing, thought I was bad being awake for a couple of hours during the night.
RR - Hope Noodles is settling in - will you keep in touch with her?

Packed lunch made, no washing today and DW will go on later. Hope you all have a good day. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone.

It's still dark outside rpthiugh I think the rain has stopped. It rained pretty much from about half ten onward. I went out early to the bank and the post office and was back home before the rain.

Today I have a hair appointment at 9.00am, it'll be good to get rid of some of my thick hair. I'm blessed with fast growing hair, it's always been as if I wash it in plant food. When I was younger, so much younger, my hair was down to my waist but I had it all chopped off when I started travelling to Oz in the 70s. I've never been able to get past the 'messy stage' since and now I'm too old for it long.

Right, porridge for breakfast and then I'll have cauliflower cheese for later. Love cauliflower cheese so I'm looking forward to that.

I hope everyone has a good Tuesday.

Morning one and all. No rain here since yesterday morning's drizzle stopped. It's forecast to be back early evening so maybe a dry day in store. If so I want to get the last of the cutting back done and then the garden has been put to bed for winter. The Japanese anemones, which are gradually taking over the back garden, are dropping and looking very bedraggled so, sadly, time for them to go and a few roots to dig up.

We didn't get the "after the weekend" phone call yesterday re Mr TA's treatment so, hopefully, it will be today. We won't venture far from the phone just in case.

I really must tidy the upright freezer out today and take stock of what's in there and what's needed. Plus a bit of batch cooking when I can see what stocks are like.

HH I had another bad night (what's new?) and get fed up of not being able to sleep, as you must too. RR I too hope Noodles has settled in her new home.

Have a good day all (((HUGS)))) if wanted/needed and take care xx

She has been sleeping on the man's bed so I think she has got them where she wants them :D

Off to work for me its wet and miserable here so it will be a bit busier, not sure whats for dinner tonight there are pizzas in the freezer so might have them with some salad etc.

    Morning :hello:

redruby That's great for Noodles :T You did a great thing by fostering her, you know how much you helped her, right? I hope you're OK xx

Gers I thought Patricia Arquette was great in the few CSIs she was in, so I'm looking forward to Cyber too. I've only just realised it starts tonight so I'll set a series link. It's a double episode so I know what I'll be doing tomorrow afternoon :D But yes, NCIS and Jethro :D

Scamps had a great time up the hill last night, he ended his wet and muddy run by rolling in fox poo. Then he rubbed himself all over the carpet as soon as he got in:eek: :D He had his first shower last night, he was a bit wary to start with but seemed to enjoy it. Soaked the bathroom though, lol.

I decided I would cook up a storm yesterday after all, so I got everything out of the freezer then realised I couldn't do anything with it because it was frozen :rotfl: I'll get on with it today.

It's still grey and wet here, another day indoors for me. Cooking is the priority today, I'll be flitting about cleaning, doing the washing and ball throwing in between oven timings, lol.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

The rain woke me up this morning but it seems to have eased off for a little while. I'm just waiting for my friend to come and see me but she might be delayed as her kitchen gets flooded with the runoff from the field behind when there is heavy rain and obviously she will need to sort it out before she leaves the house.

I watched the last Eat Well For Less programme yesterday and I have decided to try a few of their recipes out as they looked very tasty. I'm waiting for Asda to deliver the ingredients and then I will be cooking up a storm in the kitchen later.

Some of my yarn turned up yesterday and the patterns came too so I can crack on with knitting hedgehogs and penguins for Christmas. I hope the rest of it turns up today as it will be nice to have more choice of colours.

So that's my day, visitors, cooking and knitting. It could be a lot worse :D:D. Hope you all have a great day too, whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Morning ((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))) if you need one, I do.

I wondered how long it would be before I got a fibro flare up. Started last night, my right leg was dancing all on its own, then various other bits joined in. Despite taking my medication and pain killers it went on most of the night, managed to get to sleep around 4am, only to be woken by OH getting out of bed. Will be spending most of the day on the settee.

Washer will arrive late this afternoon according to the message I received, just hope it does not appear whilst we are having supper.

Heavy rain last night, it appears to have cleared up, OH is setting his stall out to go out to the garden. I will try and lay the fire. Bit concerned I have two appointments tomorrow and lunch with DD2. hope I will still be ok to go, will see how today goes.
