Hello Tuesday Savers,
Another day of my 'Catching up' week. Here are the money-saving hilights, such as they are:
*Ran washer & heated airer overnight. No need for heated airer today as the further day of rain that was forecast hasn't materialised yet, so the washing is pegged outside on the line.
*Peeled the huge bowl of onions I brined yesterday. Good job I had a good audiobook to listen to.....peeling 6lbs of titchy onions takes forever. Never mind, they are back in the bowl for their 2nd brining now & will be pickled tomorrow.
*Labelled the piccalilli & jam I made yesterday & packed it away in the pantry.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Marinated the meat for tonight's kaatie kebabs - a recipe from Madhur Jaffrey's curry bible book. Basically lovely spiced beef strips in pittas. Very economical as can use whatever is on offer....cut-up frying steaks, beef chunks, whatever. Am going to serve spicy stir-fried veg with it to use up some cabbage, cauli, etc.
*Made a loaf in the BM.
*Sliced, blanched & froze more runner beans.
*Picked up another 3lbs windfall pears when I went out with the washing.
*Did a few surveys.
*Re-listed 5 ebay items.
This afternoon:
It's clouded over now, but still dry so I'm going to weed out a small bed under the pear tree (will try not to be knocked unconscious by falling pears!) to plant some bulbs which a friend gave me. Then I'm going to finish the fair isle panel of my knitting. It would have been finished last night but I started knitting at Row 9 of the pattern (only knitters will be remotely interested in this, I realise....), knitted 2 rows of utter cr*p, before spotting that I was actually on Row 7. Had to frog the 2 rows & do them again. Add in all the swearing & refusal to believe I could POSSIBLY be wrong, & that took up most of my knitting time. Bah!! That will teach me to knit 3 colours while watching something with subtitles! So this afternoon, my knitting HAS TO GROW!!
CLF - The yarn sounds fab. I get very excited by yarn purchases, which definitely contributed to the Spendy Decades.
I'm also hoping everything's going well for Bob. That's the nice thing about this thread, really, isn't it.....we are supportive of people in bad times, but also get ridiculously excited by people's good times too.
OK, off to the shed for my trowel now.
Have a good day, all.

Hi All
Love hearing about the knitting and baby bob stuff. Still got fingers crossed.
Sorry missed my question.
January 2016, the perfect cash storm. No cashflow in and around £25000 of farm and my business costs to pay. Debt land once again here I come. It is not a surprise, but I feel I will have minimised the damage by keeping it right at the front of my mind.
Just ordinary life for farmers, but I do worry all the time about it.
Keep up the gardening and knitting all.

Hi everyone
Only returned last night from 7 sunny days in the north - only rain was on the way home! Not had time to catch up on you all yet, but gather that there is not a new baby Bob yet.
Just popped in to wish you all the best Bob.

A late check in for me today
been pottering about this morning (still no internet at home so all updates are at work). Unpacking some bits, get rid of bits I don't want, putting other bits in pile for loft etc.
When I left the house for work it smelt so yummy, go lamb shanks in slow cooker for dinner
got pots, veg, stuffing and yorkshire puds ready, put the oven on right numbers for hubby so when he gets home from work all he has to do is turn the oven on at the wall
so yummy dinner tonight for me!!
- Fill up bottle at work
- Take snack into work instead of buying
- £1 PAD that would've been snack money into savings
- Freeze left over gammon from last night (I usually would've put the extra on our plates and the cats would've had what we didn't eat so last night put one peice on each, they were plenty big enough, so the rest will do another dinner
sorry cats!!)
- No Heating (except bathroom can't turn it off!!)

Hi all
Hoping all is well with Bob.
Have had a bit of a rubbish day today. Wont bore you with the details, just one of those days. I am tired too.
Washing put over the airer as its been wet outside. Stuck to meal plan for tea, made a rice pudding to try and fill my hungry teenagers only to be told by one of them that he doesnt like it. News to me.
Going to sit down and read my book I think.0 -
Beginning to be concerned about Bobland. Hope she is so busy adoring baby bob that she is too busy to tell us all about it. Hoping she had a nice safe quick delivery. I really could not be a midwife I have far too much imagination.
Just kept to the meal plan. Am also sticking to budget. DD is a good influence on me so far.
Tough week ahead. However a lovely weekend planned planting daffodils and sleeping.
Keeping thoughts with Bob and looking forward to news tomorrow.

Evening all,
Despite a 'complicated' day at work I'm feeling pretty good this evening. I think the worst of my mood has passed.
I'm working an obscure shift tomorrow so I get a long lie. Oh yes! (Bet I wake up at 5am.) But I don't finish til late. Boo!
But when I finish it'll be my 'weekend'. Oh yes!
Bob: Hope you've good news for us soon.
Rest of the list:
* Haven't spent any money today.
Erm...that's it. :rotfl:

Late post from me, like lots of others work is so crazy at the moment  I can honestly say I don't think I have ever worked so hard and I can't really see any light at the end of the tunnel. I was meant to be on AL on Thursday and Friday and I think I'm going to have to cancel
get even more frustrated as the more hours I do at my day job means less on my own business which could eventuAlly be the answer to me not doing j!!! - however, not if I can't out the hours in - boy what a conundrum
Anyway my list a today I have/will:
PAD to cc, plus paid of some business profit that I got paid yesterday
Meals from stores
Meal planned for week and write shopping list
DW on cheap overnight
Had to switch heating on (but only for 30 mins) earlier as DH and 2xDD got soaked home from school and needed to dry things ready for tomorrow. Was soon off again as didn't need it for general heat
3 1 poll
Checked cashback, options for DD Christmas present
Updated spreadsheets for outgoings
Stare at big pile of clothes hoping they will magically get labelled for weekend sale :rotfl:
Found £5 in a pile of receipts
Hope everyone is taking good care of themselves

Evening all

Another late check in. I have, unsurprisingly been busy. Thanks all for your kindness and concern. I'm terrible without a decent night's sleep - everything looks bad. I take loads of medication already - but am a bit overdue with a check in with the doctor. I've been putting it off because my lovely doctor left the practice and I don't know any of the others.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »
A day off teaching today - I'm on a training course. Those of you who have experience of teaching will know that a day out of lessons isn't usually a good thing. There will be no work done and most, if not all of my stationery will be gone when I get back. Course was really good, but my classroom is completely decimated as I suspected.
Here's my list for today
[STRIKE];) Day off teaching[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE];) Load of washing in - no hope of a line dry because it's bucketing down outside[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE];) get dh to wash up and hoover[/STRIKE] I could get used to having a house husband you know - may consider asking him about going part time after the debt is gone. Might be better for his health.
[STRIKE];) mark tests and 2 sets of books (oh yes - I will have to go in after the course)[/STRIKE] I did 4 sets of tests and no books, but I'm considering that a victory
[STRIKE];) free lunch at training[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE];) nsd[/STRIKE]
Had a chat with my Head of Department when I got back into work - and I think we cleared the air a bit. Still no immediate solution to the workload issues, but after my course is finished tomorrow I will be more in the know. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control
