Tuesday 6 October 2015. What small dfw stuff will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!

Morning all.
Have internet this morning so am going wild and starting us off.
2nd day today of following menu plan rigidly, so far am enjoying the food and enjoying doing stuff with DD. She is commuting to Uni daily as it is cheaper than renting there. Saving we think around £3000 per annum. Also lovely for us to have her home and she tells us we are a quieter place to study.
All machines on cheap rate electric.
Hope Bob is OK. Am thinking of her.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all
Thanks for the start Maria...
I am starting to bore myself with being stressed and tired now, so I won't bore anyone else on here with it today. I'll rant on my diary if I need to.
A day off teaching today - I'm on a training course. Those of you who have experience of teaching will know that a day out of lessons isn't usually a good thing. There will be no work done and most, if not all of my stationery will be gone when I get back.
Here's my list for todayDay off teaching
Load of washing in - no hope of a line dry because it's bucketing down outside
get dh to wash up and hoover
mark tests and 2 sets of books (oh yes - I will have to go in after the course)
free lunch at training
nsd
Just a little list today... Hope everyone has a good one.Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Morning guys :wave: thanks for starting the thread maria. Myabe you didn't see my question yesterday? I asked what is happening in January?
lego mum hope the check up is relatively quick, simple and financially pain free!
Bob thinking of you! Can't wait to hear your news x
ccl your posts from yesterday made me really sad for you. Sorry going to be bossy nowI really think you need to take action with your place of work about the unreasonable pressure that is being put on you. Schedule a meeting with your Head & HoD and then possibly involve the union. This can't go on x
I don't think I actually did anything from my list yesterdayMust try harder today!
Yesterday my oh went for an interview. If he gets the job it will be a substantial payrise (over a 3rd of his salary) and we will be relocating to Sussex :j The interview went really really well (2 1/2hrs!) they are interviewing 3 other people for the role and he will find out on Friday. Don't know if I can stand the excited wait!
Small things for the day:
* [STRIKE]check banking and reconcile accounts/do some fund shifting[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]all meals from stores[/STRIKE] used up a bit of lo veg from yesterday with mine
* [STRIKE]stick to diet. Doing well 2 days in![/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]some form of exercise - possibly go for a run if it doesn't rain...[/STRIKE] kinda with the gardening & all the running about/tidying up for getting everwhere ready to paint. Also power walked to farm shop (but they didn't have what I wanted so I power walked back)
*[STRIKE] sand & paint bathroom door[/STRIKE]
* do a job search (so sad my time of not working is coming to an end & I've only been enjoying it for a couple of weeks! But it is putting too much pressure on my lovely oh...)
* [STRIKE]contact my db about probate issues[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]make dgd's pack lunch[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]oh to take leftovers for his lunch[/STRIKE]
* NSD? Probably
* do some studying for 1 of the courses I'm signed up to
* list 5 things on fleabay this evening
Ok think that's everything. If I get all of that done I will be very happy
Happy Tuesday everyone x
whoop whoop have finally painted the bathroom door :j will give it another coat tomorrow and job done
Sought some legal advice about my dismissal and sent an email to my old boss/chair of trustees :eek:
Sun was shining away earlier so went out in the garden and continued working on the overgrown bushes - really made a big dent :T shocking how big that little bit is when the foliage isn't running rampant!
defrosted sauce for dinner tonight in a bowl of cold water rather
using the microwave
picked some more cherry toms and chillis and ate one of the big toms that are going red and it was juicy and delish :T
Ok just stopped for a coffee before I go finish off the garden

Morning all
Thanks for the start Maria
CCL, I have been that stressed with work and other stuff. It isn't sustainable. I ended up getting another job. At least go and see your GP. ((Hugs))
Thinking of Bob, like everyone else. Hope to hear some good news soon
I have to go for my flu jab this morning (I get a free one due to my asthma), then OH wants to visit a nearby town. Not much will be spent!
Other than that I will:
I harvested the quinces yesterday (9 of them - it is a tiny tree in a pot), cut them up and cooked them down ready to make jelly. This morning I have put the pulp in the jelly bag to allow the juice to strain through. This afternoon I will reboil the pulp with a little more water and restrain it. I will probably make the jelly (ie boil it with sugar and lemon juice to setting point) tomorrow after baby GD has gone home, or possibly while she is having her sleep.
Must buy some sugar while out
All HM meals from the cooking session I did on SundayWe will have the rest of the game pie for supper tonight, with fresh vegetables.
Sort out fridge (didn't get to this yesterday)
Make up quiche (the shell was blind baked on Sunday, it needs to be filled and rebaked). This should use up some oddments from the fridge
Make tomato soup from soup base made on Sunday
Any surveys, FPL etc
Some paperwork needs to be sorted
Better get on as I don't want to be late for my appointment!
Hope everyone has a good day0 -

Morning folks!
Thanks to maria for starting us off
ccl - big hugs and I echo DNMS's sentiments. Your health is more important than paperwork
DNMS - good luck to your OH
love and best wishes to Bob
Soo I was very good last night. Cooked dinner for me and then started again for OH (using bits up). Cleaned the oven so that the oven man doesn't think that I'm a total slattern (I am). No booooze either (saintly).
This morning I ordered the yarn for the baby blanket. Finally decided on a cotton/bamboo mix that is apparently nice and soft. It was quite a reasonable price (£4.49 for a 100g ball) and the range had all the colours that I needed. Total was £35 which is about what I wanted to pay and I used my Amazon vouchers from work
I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT IT (sad sad woman hahahaah)
So today will not be mse as am off to the hairdressers. I coloured it myself for years but I love my new flame hair and can afford it at the moment so it's a lovely treat. I'm also going to a Crossfit session today with a group of ppl from work. It's a free taster so we'll see how it goes (it probably goes ow ow ow ow that's heavy! ow!!!!)
Today's bits:- B/L/D from stores - veg box arriving today. yum.
- Charge phone in work
- Free gym session
- Having hair done on Tuesday so 20% off colour
- Check online banking and reconcile spreadsheet
- Saw my neighbour and blagged some apples off her
- Spoke to HR about time in lieu
- No booze
- Tidy house and do a bit of deep cleaning in the kitchen
- Sort the tomatoes that I didn't do yesterday
- Small shop for coffee
