Someone once said to me that if you get caught with your pants down by one agency, every one will want to have a go. Not sure that's the right metaphor, but they're sure to get their financials checked out and the rest of it.

I've seen that happen to someone. Oddly enough I think that started with the Environment Agency too. Add that to the good publicity they had saying how well they were doing there would have been a queue of disgruntled suppliers and customers reporting them.
The old adage of there's no such thing as bad publicity can be the reverse on occasion.

The Whole company is going into liquidation due to the fine that Royalmail have given them in excess of £6 million for under declaring parcel over the past 4 years. All their suppliers gave them credit and they have now done a runner leaving suplliers out of pocket by millions.

I don't quite understand that. How can they get to £6 million under declared, or even 4 years without anyone knowing about it or being able to prove it?
I can understand the supplier issue, it's easy enough to get a substantial line of credit and sell at low/no profit. There's plenty of "businesses" doing that on Ebay and Amazon. Most companies seem to be getting better at finding them out but there's still plenty of it happening.

Will we just be left with non tax paying Chinese sellers??
As opposed to non tax paying British companies? If this is as bad as it looks there's a whole host of British companies and government departments out of pocket.

It looks as though there are more and more Chinese companies with stock in the UK. Hopefully some or all are paying UK tax on it.

I'm buying less and less from China and moving into an area that has a larger manufacturing base in the UK. I'd like to say it was for ethical reasons but it isn't. More to do with Chinese sellers swamping their own markets.

And then other sellers will see what you're doing and pile in.

Amazon/Ebay selling = race to the bottom.

That's a risk in any business, it's one thing Amazon and EBay don't have a monopoly on.

I think they do, they've built market place systems where only the cheapest item listed sells, thus forcing sellers to undercut each other just to get sales.

If Babz have gone belly up it does show that you can sell as much as you like at a loss or near loss, but you're never going to earn off the job.
