currys!

I reserved a laptop online this afternoon, went to pick it up this evening and they didn't have one to give me!
I can't order online because it's an insurance replacement and I have to physically hand over the voucher. They say they cant get me one till Friday now, even though the nearest branch with one in stock is only 10 miles away.
The assistant couldn't have cared less and didn't even see if we were interested in another make/model.
Not impressed, customer service at it's worst.

Why didn't you go to the shop 10 miles away and get it from there???

I doubt there is much the assistant could have done, if there aint one in the shop there aint one in the shop. Also 3 days to wait isn't exactly life changing. Can't you go to the store 10 miles away?
  • they probarbly didnt have the laptop there for you as it was more than likely reserved for the orange broadband customers but for some reason when a laptop is reserved for orange bb customers it stays on the stock file and allows people to reserve it anyway, (computer error)

with regards to the laptop being in another store only 10 miles away there isnt a way to have stock taken from one store to another as the delivery company wont do it and staff cant as if they transport stock in thier own cars it is then classed as using the thier car for business use for which they will not be insured and therefore illeagal

If you reserved it and it was confirmed I can understand your irritation however these things happen so breath deeply and think nice thoughts :D

OP should have just fetched it himself, 10 miles isn't all that far.

I don't see why you say this, are you expecting them to get you one? They can hardly do that. Can you not go there?

Does that really mean they couldn't make one from thin air? Did you ask this? Perhaps they had to give you exactly the same one.

Really? I've read a lot worse than this on here.

Obviously you lot are used to rubbish customer service, it was more their attitude than anything else, and yes I did go to crewe the next day to pick it up and they hadn't even reserved one for me! So I doubt I would have got it on the friday anyway.
Good customer service should be standard, I've driven 30 miles to a customer who was missing a part from their mountain board - that customer will remember us and no doubt return - I won't be returning to currys.

believe me, I would have gone to my local supplier (and paid trade price), but I had to use either currys or pc world as it was an insurance voucher.

I so agree about people not seeing past the price, although we are getting lots of business now by word of mouth from our customers' recommendations.
Great service wins out eventually, it's generally only ebay buyers who want the cheapest option.
We pride ourselves on our level of personal service and I despair when going into any large 'superstore', the staff usually don't give a stuff.

Since when have small independent stores been undercutting major chains and selling computers at trade price?
