Penalty Points

They stay on for 4 years, since there's no paper counterpart, it's all done electronically and you should have a clean record, as long as you haven't accumulated more in the meantime

Out of date information.
The OP can throw away his paper counterpart, and his physical licence will not show any points.0 -
You don't need to do anything. Just go here after the 4 years is up - https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence to check for yourself. What do you have to do to remove penalty points from my licence. It was 2011 I received them.0 -
You would still need to disclose them if asked for car insurance for 5 years after the conviction.0

That is the pain in the !!!! though. I had to change my address on my licence after 8/6 and I was not sent back my counterpart. So do I have to just remember the exact date of my endorsments after 4 years down the line. The online version just tells you the points you have not expired ones.0 -
According to https://www.gov.uk/penalty-points-endorsements/how-long-endorsements-stay-on-your-driving-licence an endorsement is now only valid for 4 years after the offence and on your licence for 3 years not the 5 and 4 as it used to be.
This means that under rehabilitation of offenders act the insurers have no right to know about n endorsement more than 4 years after the offence even if they ask. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I'm afraid they have the right. Apart from anything else, the rehab period for fines is 5 years, and every endordement will have been accomoanied by a fine.0 -

The other way round, they are valid for 3 years from the date of the offence, but stay on your licence record for 4 years.0 -
Confusing as driving endorsements do not fall under ROA and stay at 5 years. It would appear that whoever wrote the article I linked to didn't understand the difference between the rehab period and how long it stays on the licence
The rehabilitation period for a fine is one year, not 5 years. It changed last year
So, I was wrong (thanks to incorrect government info) and it is still 5 yearsThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
