Before buying a new laptop or upgrading to windows 10 why don't you try installing something like Ubuntu on it and giving it a whirl, you may be pleasantly surprised.

    For what reason exactly?

Well if anybody thinks they have far too much time on their hands fighting with Linux trying to get stuff working will solve that problem for sure

I love the Linux desktop but it's not for The Great Unwashed in it's current form.

£23 or less for a new battery against hundreds for a new laptop??
    HP part just £29.99 here
You can get generics even cheaper...but no need to go for the absolute cheapest.
Clean up your laptop to make it speedier than when new.

If you want an extended battery, there is the nine cell for £24.99 or the twelve cell for £32.99

DD2 had some sort of error message about her battery appearing all the time - I managed to tick the box to say 'don't show this message again and ..... there is no longer a problem!

    Sorted! :p
