O/S Daily Monday 5th October 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now getting light, looks to be dry underfoot, but rain forecast later.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit but I’ll wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.
Dinner last night was lovely and not too expensive, DH had chicken and ham pie, chips and peas and I chose fish pie that came with a side salad, our friends both had the carvery meal, and it all looked lovely – it was good value too. We got to the restaurant and it wasn’t too busy either, although it was just after 4pm – so in between lunchtime and the dinner rush, we hadn’t been sitting down very long, before it became busier. Dinner tonight will be pasta with a creamy tomato sauce with bacon and peas. When I got home from work tonight I will be making a cream filling and will then put the cream and jam into the Victoria sponge.
The meeting we went to went well, and was the quickest we’ve ever been to. Although there wasn’t many people there and it seems to get less each year.
Back to work for me today, hoping it’s not going to be busy like it was on Saturday – but at least I’m only doing the job until lunchtime.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone nmic hope you have a nice morning at work, so glad you enjoyed your meal too. Well all the planning has paid off I managed to get the car packed in only 10mins. I've had breakfast and sitting down enjoying a cuppa coffee. I've just gone up and woken DH I prefer to do things when he's not there (I get them done much faster). So he's just to get ready then we will be going to collect DGS and be in our way to the Lincolnshire coast. I've meal planned all that we are having and froze in advance so all the shopping is done too, it will just be some fresh bread if we need any. Hope everyone has a nice day and hugs to those who need one and also to those who just fancy one.Why pay full price when you may get it YS0

Morning All
Definite change in the weather this morning, no rain yet but it certainly is much fresher. No washing today but it almost dried yesterday, just 10 mins in the drier.
Spent a lovely day with DD yesterday although getting into Glasgow was a bit of a nightmare, there was a big run on through the city centre with lots of roads closed which meant no access to a few car parks. Ended up in a car park that cost £7 for about 3 hours! DD had bought a sort of ladder unit from the blue and yellow shed but decided it was too big for the space she had so we took that back, she couldn't find the receipt but got a gift card with the money on, I'm sure she will find something to buy!
I got a few bits and bobs for my trip away next week, there are some good sales of summer stuff which is just the job. Need to get myself motivated to sort clothes to pack this week.
Have a good holiday Howmuch!
Hope this week is good to you. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all
I'm off to work in a sec, hubby is still in bed, he's on late's this week.
I've no idea what the weather's like as it's pitch lack outside.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning one and all. Well the promised rain hasn't got to us yet but it sounds like we will get it at some point today.
REDRUBY I hope the visit between Noodles and the bereft couple went well. They, and their big garden, sound perfect for her. I hope they fall in love with her as much as you have.
We are not venturing out today in case today is the day we get the phone call from the Royal Liverpool. I'll be on pins all day waiting for the call re the next step. He has to continue with the Lanreotide injections monthly in Leeds so this new treatment has to fit in with those.
Mr TA has been so much better since the horrible painkillers were replaced by small doses of Oromorph. He has more life in him and is eating better too, though still not very big portions. I am still trying to disguise the Fresubin drinks to get them down him! Yesterday I made him Angel Delight using a strawberry milk one- I haven't made one of those up since the kids were little! He loved it served with a few raspberries and some squirty cream! I can't believe the things I am making for him these days! He's now put 5 lbs back on in the last month so we're doing something right!! I just hope it's not all back off once treatment starts.
Have a good day all ((((((HUGS)))))) if needed/wanted and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning :hello:
redruby How did the meeting go for Noodles? I was so pleased to see your post yesterday
TravellingAbuela It's great to read about Mr TA's progress xx
Scamps has decided he's a grown-up now and would much rather sleep downstairsHe's now under the hall window, cosied up in his blankets.
I went through my recorded programs and put CSI on. The last ever episode! I had no idea and I'm not happy about itA new one is starting this week, I hope it's as good.
I have lots to do but haven't planned like I usually do. It's raining at the moment, I'm not sure how long it's meant to last so I'll plan indoor jobs for today. I'll get the bedding in the machine first then start a list. I need to make some cottage pies and spagetti sauce for the freezer, I'm not in a food mood at the moment but will definitely do it at some point over the next couple of days. I've almost finished my latest blanket – progress is certainly slower since Scamps moved in! - so will work on the border today.

Morning all,
Raining here and set I for the day I think.
The meeting with the couple went well yesterday they were really lovely and we took dear noodles up to them late afternoon yesterday, they had a lovely big house with huge garden and all the time in the world to give her, it really was perfect, so why do I feel that they have stolen my dogShe went mad as we left her there and tried to get out of the door after us, and dd and I sobbed all the way home, I have told all parties that if it doesn't work out to let us know and we would sort something out, but its horrible here without her, who would have thought after 3 weeks that she would have wormed her way into our lives that much
Some kind of sausage meal tonight might just do mash and veg, need to put a wash on too, and have a quick tidy round.
Have good days all xx0 -
Hi everyone,
Life is slowly getting back to normal, such as it is. DD and new DH will be back from Sardinia today and picking up the keys to their new house. We'll go down on Saturday to help them move in. Thy aren't taking much furniture as they're renting out their current flat furnished.
DS and fiance are in Barcelona - we took them to the airport on Saturday and they'll be back on Wednesday. I hope they don't wear themselves out, they have a very full sightseeing agenda.
I'm doing a "Good neighbours" job today, running an old lady to the doctors. Apart from that not a lot is happening.
TA, well done on the weight gain, I remember trying to get dad to eat after his cancer op - lots of milky puddings and trying to make sure he drank the special shakes when he didn't feel a bit like eating.
Have a good day.0 -
Good Morning everyone, we have rain, we have grey skies and it's cooler but what a run of good weather we've had and it IS October! He Who Knows is still with DD1, they have had to admit defeat and will call in a professional Locksmith today so I don't know if he will be back today or tomorrow, never mind at least it's getting sorted out.
REDRUBY my heart is so sad for you, It's also so pleased for Noodles but that's another matter entirely. You took in a little waif and like a mum you grew her into a confident and loveable companion who hopefully will now go on to have the most wonderful life with her new owners. It's inevitable that you'll be sad and feel this way but only until you can stand back and realise what a lovely thing you've done for Noodles. Selfless is what you've done, compassionate, kind and being a good Samaritan is never an easy path. Be proud of what you've achieved for her and your sadness will fade in a little while and you'll be able to see that a permanent home is the best possible out come for your doggie friend. In the meantime many hugs are winging your way and I hope you get your balance back very quickly love, Lyn xxx.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's still dry here at the moment but the rain is coming later on. Hubby and the girls have left the house and it's just me and Max. He is currently throwing his monkey around so he's happy. I've booked him in for the chop and to be chipped on the 16th. Hubby has booked the day off work so he can take him and collect him.
Redruby, I can only agree wholeheartedly with Mrs LW, you have done wonders with little noodles and I can only hope she quickly settles with her new family.
I've booked the panto for just before Christmas for Hubby, the girls, Eldest DD and the grandchildren. I would love to go but I will enjoy hearing all about it when they come home. The ticket prices were a bit eyewatering but it's a family tradition. Hubby always gets 'picked on' by the dame too which is very funny.
I have to sew up my snowman I've just finished knitting. I'm waiting on a delivery for some sparkly yarn to make some more presents. I managed to swap some nectar points for ebay vouchers so I only had to pay a little bit towards them. I hope they come today:D.
HOWMUCH, I hope you have a great holiday, you certainly sound very prepared.
TravellingAbuela, I hope MrTA's treatment goes smoothly, well done for getting his weight up as well. It can't be easy for either of you.
I am going to jump in the shower and get dressed. I hope my friend will come and see me today and have coffee. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Good morning everyone. There's a very watery blue- grey sky outside and very windy. Perhaps that ex-hurricane is almost here.
Yesterday I was fairly productive. I cleared out a huge pile of paperwork whilst I was looking for my log book. The documents case had so much out of date stuff in. I then did about an hour of scanning into the laptop before making a lovely big bonfire outside and burning the lot. Got a wash done too and planted some bulbs in the back lawn.
Today is banking day, transfers to do and also get the money for the car winging its way to the dealer. There'll be time for a walk too I expect.
Breakfast is porridge whilst there YS meatballs for later with veg.
RR - don't beat yourself up too much, you did a good thing by taking on Noodles and another good thing by finding a new home for her.
TA - it's so lovely to hear the progress of your OH, well done for the weight gain.
Tru - I enjoyed the last CSI and have high hopes of CSI Cyber. My favourite though is NCIS, something about Jethro!
Right, my day starts here, reluctantly. My new duvet is calling me back under its cosines but I will resist.
Happy Monday everyone.0
