Flights to Crete

We have booked apartments in Crete for September 2016 so I am now looking for flights to Heraklion from Newcastle , only choices are jet2 , Thomson and Thomas Cook .
Jet2 are currently the cheapest coming in at just over £600 for the 2 of us , as we normally do Greek holidays as a package I have no idea if that is a good price . When is a good time to be looking to book a flight and get the best deal ?

Normally the best time is b4 you book the accom. That way you can tweek it a day or 2 either way.
We regularly drove from Edinburgh to Newcastle and Manchester if the saving justified it. You could too. Ryanair prices are normally best around 6 to 8 weeks. Thomson can be really cheap 2 weeks b4. the rest are a hit or miss imo.
really depends if its high or low season.
Sometimes for Greece, you can book an 18/30 package cheaper than the flights but just ditch the accom provided

Check how far the apartment is from Chania airport, Ryanair are doing a lot of flights and it might be an option.

It's in Sissi , it would have to be Heraklion . I booked the apartments first because they only had two left for the dates we wanted , they are very popular with return customers.
I think I'll just have to keep monitoring the flights over the next few months and be ready to pounce when I see a decent price !

That's what I do. Just keep a word pad on your desktop, check the fares once a day or every few days. I always check one way fares to anywhere in Greece ( this is where skyscanner is really useful ) and note them too.

Almost anywhere you end up, there's a cheap Aegean or Ryanair flight to Heraklion, or a Blue Star ferry for around 35 Euros. Over the past few years, I've booked Manchester to Chania for £23 o/w, Birmingham to Santorini for £84 o/w, etc, then just got a ferry to where I need to be which always turns into one of the highlights of the trip. You can't beat having a drink on the back of the boat at sunset, watching porpoises following in the wake for over an hour. :)
Oh...and don't forget to check northern departures on the Thomsonfly website fare deals page, both outbound and return.

You can already book Ryanair Chania to East Midlands for £85, then just concentrate on the outbound flight.
