Help us catch Harry the Hamster

We bought a little hamster
Harry is his name
I thought he'd calm my son down...
He's never been the same!

His cage it has been broken
The hamster he got out
No child will admit to it
They did it though no doubt

I heard a scraping sound
Above my bedroom ceiling
Oh god I said, dear daughter
I have a nasty feeling

It sounds like theres a rat
Hush hush where is it now?
Oh no! We lost the Hamster!
We want him back - but how?

They tried a stick, they shone a light
But try and try as best they might
The little furry thing is stuck
Twixt ceiling and son's floor
OH F!!K!

    :rotfl: love the poem.

how about putting one of those humane mouse traps filled with some nice tasty hamster treats near any gaps you have in the skirting boards, I'm sure the little so and so will wiggle it's way out when it's hungry ;)

    no- no mouse traps
take a small plastic bucket, fill it with some of his food at the bottom (take away any other food). put a small ladder (like in some cages) from the floor to the outside of the bucket.
leave overnight and check in the morning....

this has never failed me- and i have lost lots and lots of hamsters.
they go for the food and can't get back out of the bucket.

    good luck.

I used this once to trap an escaped chinchilla. I took an empty cereal box, put food in the bottom, laid it open on the floor (facing chinchilla) sat and waited. When the chinchilla went into the box I quickly up-ended it and hey presto! that was it. Hope you find him soon.

I must be hungry. I looked at chinchilla and saw ENCHILADA :)
None of the kids is prepared to sit and wait for him. SHows they are not cut out for pet keeping I suppose!

Poor Harry, hope you catch him soon. Good poem by the way, you do realise once Harry is home, we are all expecting a new one titled:-

I agree with Wolfehouse re the bucket and the ladder. My DH works at a wildlife rescue centre and one of their nurses said to do this - I do know that hamsters aren't British wildlife by the way!

My nephew's hamster went missing for almost a year and reappeared in their kitchen one Sunday morning covered in soot having been up their boarded-up chimney, so all is not lost!
  • I can lend you my cat? , she brought one home the other day , alive i hasten to add god knows how or where she got it from .............mind you he was a bit unkempt ( think Tom Hanks in Castaway) I wonder if was the one we lost some years ago !

I cannot put up with a year or so of sleepless nights if he decides not to come out. Where the F*** is he getting water from though???
