Broken links

Since I can't reproduce this now I'll assume that I originally copied and pasted a link with no http prefix into the URL box.

[STRIKE]The forum is in at least some cases changing the destination site name and adding forums.moneysavingexpert.com , breaking the link. For example, the link:

www.parliament.uk/briefing-papers/SN04252.pdf

is transformed into:

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/www.parliament.uk/briefing-papers/SN04252.pdf

in the final link form in this post.[/STRIKE]

I used button and www.parliament.uk/briefing-papers/SN04252.pdf as it didn't parse it automatically.

Using the button works, as long as you don't leave out the [noparse]http://[/noparse] prefix.

It even pre-fills the prefix for you.



If you delete the [noparse]http://[/noparse] it has given you and paste an incomplete url without the [noparse]http://[/noparse] in the box, then you will get this.

This is not a MSE specific thing/bug. Same thing happens or is required in the stock vBulletin 3.8.7

I does pre-fill it, but stupidly gets it highlighted, i.e. deleted if you simply paste the address. IMO, it's not vBulletin's business what link I want to post and they have no reasons whatsoever for adding some stupid prefixes like "http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/" to my links, even if they are incomplete.

For anyone looking at the original post in the other thread I just re-edited it so the link there is now working fine.

And of course I used some trickery to get the plain text versions in the first post of the topic where this message appears.
