Literally killing me to wait. Anyone have an idea of average return flight costs for when I am looking?

Which airline has the outbound flights you've found, and are you looking for flights from/to the London area or elsewhere?

Thomas cook return charter flights to Orlando or San Fran or Vegas are on sale and usually pretty reasonable and they fly from Manchester if you don't want London.

Thomas cook have the outbound flight but are charging much more for the return leg.

Happy to fly from anywhere really - live in Devon so always have to go up North (anything past Bristol :rotfl:) for long haul.

Ok, but if it's £50 per person extra to avoid a narrow seat aircraft, I'd pay it.

If you can fly to Dublin from Bristol the day before and stay overnight at Dublin, the flights on separate tickets can be cheaper.

So many flights aren't on sale yet, so may be best to wait a bit.

I wonder if some of the issue might be your return date, which will be the last weekend of the school holidays. Prices might go down, but maybe not.

Norwegian are only on sale to 16 Aug right now, so you could wait.

Otherwise richardw's advice about Dublin is worth considering, direct flights to Orlando from DUB on Aer Lingus are currently about GBP 600 return for that period and you should have pre-clearance in Dublin for US immigration. Of course you have to factor in flights to Dublin and probably a night's accommodation to be on the safe side.

Agree about paying a little extra for a better flight - just not double!

Annoyingly his school were showing that they were going to return on Tuesday 6th which I though might keep cost down a little as we could fly back on the Sunday. I called to check and it was a mistake - why didn't I keep my mouth shut!

We were spoilt last year as I managed to get premium economy (on Monarch - nothing to write home about) for £500 return!

    Currently waiting...waiting...

Flights are released 330 days ahead of time. By my (Excel's) reckoning, flights for 3 Sept will be released on 9 October.

This varies by airline. Some carriers (particularly legacy scheduled carriers like BA) release flights up to 355 days ahead.
