Ford KA...help!!
Hi everyone,
I have a ford KA which is about a year old (64 plate) , today I've taken it to a hand cleaning garage and left them with the keys for a basic valet. When I've returned to my car the engine no longer starts!
When I left the car I turned the engine completely off, when they started it the first time the engine went ok and I think they've left it running. It's then gone into auto stop mode, and you need to press in the clutch to restart...instead of doing that I think they've kept turning the key and that's when it wouldn't go. Could this be the result of the engine not starting?
If not then what else could it be? I have had absolutely no problems since buying the car until now...seems a coincidence!
Can anyone help?? Please!!

Cars break, probably a coincidence.0

Probably dead battery, maybe left the ignition of without realising it (because of the stop/start nonsense).
Alternatively they might have simply left a door open or a light on.....
It's got fuel right? Due to paying off finance deals, a lot new car owners don't like to fill up their tanks and tend to drive around £5 worth of fuel at a time, so if it was left running it could have run out.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Did this "basic valet" include pressure-washing under the bonnet - or anywhere else the water could have got to electronics?0

Yes it definitely had fuel, I also had someone try to start the car with a charged battery pack thingy from a recovery garage next door, but still no look with that. Also the radio etc were all still working. (I have no car knowledge what so ever, so excuse the lingo)
It didn't include any cleaning under the bonnet, which is why I thought it might be to do with the stop/start not being used properly...I have no idea0 -
So what's the symptoms?
Is the starter turning the engine, but it's not actually starting?
Is the starter not turning the engine at all?
Any warning lights?0 -
Nothing happens when I turn the key, not even like it's attempting to start and there are a few lights showing but I couldn't tell you what they are.
If it's something to do with the starter what usually triggers them to fail? Is it something that would usually be covered by a warranty?0 -
Have you tried locking and unlocking the car?0

Use the spare key.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I haven't tried the spare key...someone else has also said that so I will give it a go 👍0
