I always found those really cheap tacky free plastic bags weak to carry anything heavy duty anyway. Countless times I've been walking down the street and they have split.
Thankfully now we are moving with modern times.0 -
If I ever need anything from Lakeland, I always buy a bag as they are strong and thicker than supermarkets bags 4 life.
Mum says National Trust bags are very good for 5pThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I still forget to put my bags back in the car, after unloading my shopping in the kitchen,so sometimes I have to rummage to see if there is a bag holding grandchildren's toys or some other shopping.
I can't keep bags in my coat pockets as they hold poo bags for the dogs (not big enough for holding shopping).0 -

I then move them right next to the front door, so I always see them whilst putting on my shoes.0 -

I agree. Like the old freebie Sainsbury's bags, you only had to look at them in the wrong way and they would split.:rotfl:The more I live, the more I learn.
The more I learn, the more I grow.
The more I grow, the more I see.
The more I see, the more I know.

How little I know.!!0 -
Tesco Ireland are discontinuing their single-use plastic bags entirely. They cost 22c/17p (=the tax) and customers are not buying them anymore.
Plastic bag tax does work.0 -
Disagree with the tax on the bags. The VAT on the bags is going to supposed good causes say the government. Yeah right! Like our foriegn aid programme I suppose - to corrupt countries that never touches the people. To India who are so badly off that they have a space programme...0

There is VAT on the plastic bags (if you are writing about the UK).
MiserlyMartin - I'm not aware of the government saying that the VAT is going to good causes. They have suggested that the nett amount received by retailers should be used for good causes.0 -
