It does but there should be a standardisation of the rules.0 -

A big thumbs up to Ocado who delivered to us yesterday evening. As usual, we quickly unpacked our bags and returned them there and then to the driver. This morning I received an email adjusting our bill down by 30p in respect of the returned bags. Well done on having things running in advance of 5 Oct Ocado.0

at the self scan, the machine will ask how many bags used, relies on customer honesty, but the assistant is usually hovering about watching, would you get a name for stealing a 5p carrier bag?
It will be a similar level of honesty as people who do not swipe all the items they put in there bag.0 -

I walked away with my shopping in 6 of those that would have just taken 2 of the normal size bags. People were complaining all over.
This sort of thing !!!!es me off and gives me even more reason not to shop at the big four. The law doesn't start until Monday, so why do they see the need to force it upon everyone before then. If I had known they had taken all the bags away I would have come with my own bags. Just a dirty underhand way to get people to buy bags for life even before the law comes in.
They could have ran out of bags. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

If its a plastic bag, they must charge for it. If its a paper bag, and you are in England, it can be free.0 -

There should be no need to line a bin with plastic, there are many bins on the market that you can clean out.
And in so doing probably do just as much 'environmental damage' through heating the water, the use of a detergent cleaner (or worse) and so on.
There has has been a complete loss of any sense of proportion over this move.0 -

Wake up - use a hessian bag or two. Cannot see the problem except that ppl do not think ahead/are totally selfish
When the bag charge was introduced in those countries there were threads on this board along the same lines as this one. It is not hard to do a forum search to brig up threads from people in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
I'm not sure why some people are finding it so hard to understand that people who do not live in those countries will want to comment in the same way as those who do did when it was new to them.0 -
In Northern Ireland we are charged for most bags ,paper and plastic .
There are a few exceptions such as the dry cleaners and the chippy .
Small shops charge for them as well .The bag usage here had dropped by 72% .Can England match that ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0
