No there isn't.
Try to ignore them.
Maybe ignore the "rudeness" but don't ignore him, his advice in post #2 was spot on and clear, the OP seems not to have understood but I don't really know how it could have been explained in clearer English.0 -
It is stated on the car hire voucher they have emailed that it is a 'basic rental with insurances, cdw, thp,zq'....then goes on to say 'refundable excess with super cover, the rental company will block a minimum of the excess cover off on a credit card'.
It was £36.91 for the car hire for three days, plus super excess cover. I can cancel any time, so will probably do this and then do the other insurance. I have the money on a credit card, just concerned as i dont want them to take the excess *if* there is a mark/damage that we havent caused.0 -
I have looked at the t's and c's for the £1.89 car insurance...it states
''Excess Reimbursement We will reimburse
you up to the policy limit stated below for the amount of
excess you have to pay under the terms of the rental agreement if your rental vehicle is involved in an incident whilst being used for business or pleasure and it results in''
so in essence, I would have to pay out the excess anyway, then claim it back?

So your choice is either to get the insurance direct from the car hire company, which will be expensive, or get it from someone else eg a broker or one of the many excess insurers, which will be a lot cheaper, but then the car hire company will charge you and you need to claim back.
Check reviews, a lot of the excess insurers have good reputations and tend to pay promptly - eg a couple of weeks which should be before you need to pay the CC off. But obviously you need the headroom on your credit card.0 -
Just in case you are still a little confused - the 'super excess cover' mentioned on the car hire voucher you have received from AutoEurope is something you have purchased from the broker, AutoEurope, not from Sixt, the car rental company. So Sixt are not interested in that and their requirement to 'ringfence' the excess amount on your card is not affected. In the case of any damage to the car, Sixt will retain the excess and you have to claim it back yourself from the AutoEurope cover. Only Sixt sell their own 'super cover', when you book direct with them or at the desk when you collect the car.Evolution, not revolution0
