Our primary school used to sit kids on newspaper when on school trip coaches.
Definitely something in it which helps.
I would say 'seeing out' comes first and then do everything else that helps.
As you get older, recovery from travel sickness takes much longer. Babies & young children bounce back almost immediately, but by the time I was a late teen, it would make me feel ill for the rest of the day.0 -
I personally wouldn't put her in the front seats, turned off airbags can still go off which is why you can only use rear facers in the front if the airbag isn't actually there.
Our daughter is travel sick, she cannot travel in her mums car at all, it is an auto so she can feel the gear changes which makes her much much worse.
We keep the car very cold and play sing along music, if the journey is more than twenty minutes she needs a travel sickness tablet. We do long journeys in stages, so we never spend more than an hour in the car.0 -
Just another vote for newspaper, I've no idea why/how it works but I witnessed one very green 4 year old on a coach trip regain a normal colour and start chattering away upon being sat on newspaper. Said child wasn't told what the newspaper was for so it wasn't power of suggestion. Odd but I now keep one in the car at all times!"Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin."0

I suffered badly as a child. It helped to keep my eyes closed and have fresh air in the car.0
