No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries October 2015

Bit of a slow month so far:
UU
- Clarins Eau de Jardins (full size 100ml): Nice summery cologne but doesn't last very long so I WNBA
- Creme de la Mer body lotion (15ml sample): I will admit this was nice but I am not even going to look at the price - I know I wouldn't be willing to pay.
- No 7 Lift and Illuminate Night Cream (10ml sample) - got this free ages ago and was so old I just UU as a body lotion. It's not natural so WNBA.
- Argan organics anti-wrinkle face cream (10ml sample): Got this in a beauty box, it was really nice. Not sure it was better than the Balance Me face cream I tried a few weeks ago, but I MBA
INs
REN had a glitch on their mail order system where they sent out delivery notices to a number of previous customers without a current order, and as an apology offered a free full size Morrocan Rose shower gel with the next order, so I treated myself to the matching body lotion. I didn't really need either, but they are utterly beautiful and I know that from previous usage so I went for it.0 -
Oh, I forgot, I also:-
UU a tube of Elasticizer Conditioning treatment. I am in two minds about this. It is quite effective but has to be put on for a decent amount of time as a pre treatment, and I am not organised enough to remember to do that often, and I think I got as good results with the Aveda damage remedy treatment that you apply post shampoo and don't have to leave anything like as long. Overall I probably WNBA, though I have another tube to UU anyway.
I also TA a number of items of make up after seeing a colour consultant who pointed out I'd managed to buy in the wrong colour for my skintone. Few lipsticks and some blushers, can't recall exactly which ones (trying not to dwell on the fact I should have known better and not bought in the first place!).0 -
A couple more UU from this morning's soak in the tub (I do love those rare weekends when you don't have much planned and can laze in the bath.
- Burts Bees Deep Pore Scrub (15ml sample size). I think this is meant for your face but it has really gritty bits of peach stone in that would really bring out te redness in my cheeks so I've used on my body instead. Wasn't bad for that, but probably not the most economical choice as a body scrub.
- Westlab epsom salts 5kg bag: This is great. I used to buy tubes of Epsom salts which had some aromatherapy oils in from my local health food store at £8.99 for a kilogram. I managed to buy 4 x 5kg of plain salts from Amazon for £20 and I just mix with a bath oil - so this morning's bath included an ESPA detox bath oil. Epsom salts are good for a number of things, including helping with aches and pains, and as my legs are rather tight after a lot of walking last month that's just what I need. I still have 3 bags left but at that price I would definitely rebuy.0 -
Just one more UU to report so far:
Aldi Carino 3 in 1 Shampoo, conditioner & Body wash 300Ml WNBA
I'm trying to downshift some products, but this didn't give me any joy at all. UUped at the gym with it being an all in one, but I think I will stick to separates from now on.0 -
I have started to tidy the bathroom in readiness for a good clean (I do the basin and loo each day, but there are lots of corners that attract dust:eek: The sort out has produced the following:-
GA
Standard size tube of Nanoblur, does nothing for me at all.
UU
No. 7 Eyebrow pencil in blonde. WBA
Estee Lauder double wear eye liner pencil in Black Plum. WBA if it is still available.
Clinique mini (gwp) cream powder compact, this is the last one, so useful for handbag or pocket, don’t fall for the gwps now so not sure if they still do them.
This morning's exercise has revealed that I probably have enough cleanser, eye make up remover, hand cream, body lotion, moisturiser and facial oil to last me for the next 18 months or so:D all I need now is to learn not to be tempted to try new products/ranges for a while:o I have a few expensive HG's, so will buy if I come across a "silly deal".
I hope everyone is having a good Saturday, sunny and dry, but cold here. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Been having a sort out ...
TA
3 nail varnishes that I couldn't rescue
A 2/3 used tin of Burts Bees cuticle cream that had gone manky
UU
Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels, one pair - received in a beauty box a while back. At £25 for 8 pairs I don't think I will be purchasing, but they did make the area under my eyes feel nice.
Boots Nail Polish Remover - cheap and does the job0 -
indiepanda - I think these so called glitches are just a marketing ploy.
Repainted my nails last night, did toes in OPI Every Month is Octoberfest and fingers in Nails Inc The Thames topped with Leighton Denny Angel Dust.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Welcome back VALM. I wish we could get Bite lipstick here, they do one in the colour Fig which I really want.
I have a candle uu
Yankee Candle Large Jar - Pink Dragonfruit - WNBA, me and YC are over, too much soot, not enough scent (although this was reasonably scented) don't burn evenly and too much wax left when the wick has burned out.
I agree with you about YC. I didn't buy any in the US as I'd already bought my B&BW a ones. Didn't smell any that wowed me. The only thing I was tempted by was a large jar of Jack Frost which is my fave and I was disappointed when it was discontinued but by then we really didn't have any more room in the cases so I left it. Have a few large candles still in my stash and may gift them at Christmas. Do still like their wax melts though.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Also 1 UU - Spa Rituals or something Candle - Well half of the wax were still inside the glass after the wick burnt out. Glad it was bought from a charity shop but WNBA.
That's annoying. Do you have a wax burner. If so you could remove the wax and heat it in that.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Ok, I finally have time to update on my haul (and some UU!)
From Lush
Bath melts:
Melting marshmallow moment
Floating island
You've been mangoed
Dreamtime
Bath bombs:
Butterball x 2
Twilight
Soaps:
Sultana of soap
Makeup:
Jackie oates color supplement
Eyes right
I've only gotten bath bombs from them before so I'm going to experiment with the other products.
From Sephora I got
a loccitane mini travel size kit of almond items. It's in a little pink pouch. I also got the soko to tokyo sample set as I've been experimenting with my facial care *and loving the results so far, double cleansing is amazing*
I also got a tub of Aquaphor but it was needed for my eczema, so it doesn't really count.
Ooh, and I got a travel size trio from bath and body works (ugh, impulse buy).
For UUs, I finished the Neutrogena triple moisture deep conditioning mask, wba if on sale, I haven't replaced it yet but wanting to give aussie 3 min miracle moist another try. It's much cheaper than others. Also used up a travel size St Ives apricot facial scrub, a travel size hada labo facial cleanser, and the matching travel size gel cream. I think I'm going to keep the gel cream container to decant my full size on trips. I have a mini vacation weekend after next so I plan to take all my travel size items and knock them out.
Nice haul. I went into lush yesterday too and got:-
Holly Golightly
Milky bath
Cup of coffee face mask
Porridge soap
For Emma:-
Star dust
Shoot for the stars
Lord of Misrule.
They are not making the melting snowman bubble bar this year.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!
