TAP Delayed Flight

  • Hi, TAP agreed that we are entitled to maximum compensation as our flight finally arrived in Cape Verde 48 hours late. They asked for my bank details and accepted that I wanted money not vouchers and so I was happy. That was about 6 months ago. The staff member at Fale Connosco /TAP that is supposedly dealing with my case will not speak to me on the phone nor will he answer my emails. This has been going on for 15 months. Out of the blue I had a call from a company called Sigma Legal Services claiming that they can get my money back and they take 25%. Has anyone heard of them. I Googled them and they have an address in the UK but further down there is the same company name based in Delhi and I am worried this could be a scam company. I have not committed myself to using them I wanted to know if anyone else has tried them first.
  • You will get a different reference number every time. My advice is to send a recorded delivery letter. I did and after a while I had an email from them. (Mind you they haven't coughed up yet and that was 15 months ago, but at least I bypassed this ridiculous reference number system).

I don't think that there is any point in using any claim firm apart from those mentioned (and recommended) on this site. It's not as if there would even be a massive saving in their fees.

If you have in writing from them that they accept liability, I would follow Vauban's excellent guide and do it yourself.

    Another update:

Sent a NBA on the 7th October giving them 14 days to respond. I've had no response, so between now and the end of the weekend I'm going to start court action.

Never done this before, so I'll be using Vauban's Guide. Can anyone who has done this before offer any further comments?

Also, am I pretty much guaranteed to win?

    Cheers

Tyzap replied in September to say that he thinks you have a good case. Nothing can be guaranteed but your downside risk is pretty limited. I'm sure if you follow Vauban's guide, you'll be giving it your best shot.
