How can anyone be so stupid as to think this is a good idea.
Unless there's a bit of trolling going on here.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

I, too, suspect that someone is seeing how many they can 'take in', but can add that a gas fire will be condemned if the artificial coal has a crack in it, as would one with a crack in a ceramic radiant.
I was told this by the fitter, who replaced my old fire and commented that the radiants a neighbour wanted ,as spares for her fire, should be destroyed, as they had hairline cracks.

I expect the earlier reply about petrol would solve that concern, although you may want to warn the neighbours before trying, as the possible explosion may also damage their properties.

I would also suggest that burning children is not really morally acceptable in this day and age.

I firmly believe it is highly significant the OP has not returned to update us. Clearly, this is either owing to not following the general advice and ending up dead or, following my specific advice, she's too busy sourcing an updated model for a husband.

Of course, it could be that she's been detained for burning children. If it was a smokeless zone, this is bound to be an offence.

Probably not returned as they now realize the error.

WOW - There was me thinking replacing the logs to my electric fire made the flames lick a little too much and left a rather nasty odour. :D

I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

I think only if the children were wearing rubber-soled shoes
