hyhermes

just going back to work , after my dinner , (in a rush) , bang bang , myhermes , with a big heavy parcel , I am expecting quite a few motorcycle parts , so just asked him if the address was correct , and signed and grabbed it ,

just checked now , it is obviously not the motorcycle engine parts , nor has it my name on it

contacted myhermes and gave them the parcel number and even the senders address,

they want me to wait in between 8am and 8pm for a driver to collect, they did ask me if I had a safe place

leave on the street or what?

I am NOT taking a day (and a half) off work for them , whats the legalities here ?

I,ve ask them to send me a return label , and I will drop it somewhere , or even them to contact the seller to check the address , no way , "we will collect between 8am and 8pm" is there best reply

  • Is the address nearby? That might be the easiest solution.

A safe place can be almost anything - garage, greenhouse etc. If you aren't going to be home ask them to collect it from work?
  • my address is a single diget , there are no 2 diget houses on my street , and I have tried a few and no one recognises the name , there is only the street , no garden or otherwise

What about work? Can you leave it in reception?
  • as a self employed person , I do not have those facilities , nor a desk , and am in and out all the time , I do not get the pleasure of sitting somewhere for upto 12 hours , I have offered to drop it in a collection shop , if they forward a pre paid label in the post , but they say no,
  • When I send anything by Hermes.. I always include the "senders details" that are half of the address print out.

If the parcel can be opened/resealed it might be worth a look inside.
  • as per my first post , the senders detail are on the box , I have asked them to send a return label made out to him , or for them to contact the seller to check on his printed address , but webchat simply say "we will collect" ,

no indication as to collection date , just a stout 8am to 8pm reply
  • anyone got access to 192.com . ?

Have you tried posting on their Facebook page? They're much more sensible on there than they are on the Live Chat or email.

You could try putting the name into Facebook. I use that as a 192 alternative sometimes. I'd also second the suggestion of opening it to see if the sender put the packing slip inside. If they did, it'll have their contact details on it.

You do have my sympathy. While I'm a regular Hermes user with few complaints, they are a phenomenal disaster if one small thing goes wrong, and you do wonder exactly what sort of training they're giving staff to be so ridiculously incompetent.

  • I would just leave it in a safe place for them to collect, if that is outside then so be it. It is not your problem and if MyHermes cannot be more flexible in collecting the parcel that is their loss.

Just tell them a date and say you will be available at times between 8am and 8pm, and when you need to go out, are they happy for you to leave it in a recycle bin or similar.

This is a fair compromise, as they cannot expect you to stay in all day. If you go out and leave the parcel outside, it needs to be a risk they agree to.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
