    Morning all,

Welcoming HOWMUCH into the thread. Thanks for joining us and we look forward to learning more about you and your days.

Dumpling at the age of 4 my son had a seizure. He was diagnosed as epileptic though he only had 3 seizures and he was on medication for a couple of years. He hasnt had a seizure since coming off medication and he is now 26.

Things are ok at home. I'm still visiting Mom who although isnt any worse isnt any better either. I suspect my brothers girlfriend isnt helping. I caught her trying to force feed her a sandwich the other day. She means well but you cant force feed someone if they dont want to eat. Mom screamed at her and i snatched the sandwich off her which hasnt helped with the relationship between me and them. I came the other day and they were there with their daughter who is 20 and she was bouncing off the walls (just couldnt settle). They are coming to see Mom twice a day as they reckon the staff arent doing their job properly. Oh jesus wept!

Hubby was faffing around with this folding camper most of the weekend. Its huge and has taken over the one side of the garden.

Lucy dog has got bad guts. Mistakenly i bought a large treat from the pet shop thinking it would last her longer but its done nothing of the sort and not only has she ate her own, she's ate her sisters too. Shovelling $hite i was at 4am. All clean now though. Everything hygienically clean though i stink of bleach. Windows and doors wide open.

The men are at work. Youngest was in and out all weekend. I think he has found his 'new found friends' arent as brilliant as he thought they were.

Sod the housework today, i just need some mental clarity and peace.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

  • DUMPLING I had a few fits when I was 3/4 and it was always when I was sickening for something and my temp was raised. My mum was worried sick thinking it was something I would always have to put up with. Fortunately it wasn't and I never had another! Hopefully it will be the same for your DGD.

JUDI you do right to sod the housework. Get your feet up and enjoy your peace.

    Welcome HOWMUCH. Fellow Yorkshire-ite!

Mr TA has just suggested a stroll up to the Moor Gate and will see how much further he can manage when we get up there. We'll be taking it steady for sure. If we only get as far as our usual sitting spot it will be nice to just sit and admire the far reaching views. (He's just gone up to get changed)

Enjoy the rest of the day folks if you can xx

  • TA - so glad OH enjoyed Elland Road. I'd have killed for tickets to that match!

white-sage - We went out and got cold! It was a bit hazy bit we saw the beginning of the eclipse and stayed until 0400. Saw a couple of shooting stars too. Not bad - we were well wrapped up for Scottish weather, and had hot chocolate.

    Welcome HOWMUCH.

I got up at 0800 and have been bouncing ever since. DH off for the bank holiday, although it isn't one in Stirlingshire where we live. Tried out my sprained ankle on a cross field walk and its ok. On Friday I was absolutely distraught as last time I was on crutches for six months. Feeling the gratitude.

It's a gorgeous day here - it feels warmer than any time over the summer. I've been pottering in the garden - stained a chair and table before oiling. Will do the rest of the chairs and the big table tomorrow. Also harvested our apples and tomatoes. The blackberries need another week of good weather.

Re-filled the bird seed and DH cleared out the birds nesting box. We definitely had blue tits nesting in the spring but there is no evidence of eggs.

OK. Off to bake a cake for a meeting this evening.

    Have a good evening all.

  • Welcome ancient of days and HOWMUCHanimated-smileys-waving-067.gif

House is tidy and all washing is done, so grabbing a few minutes to chat with a cuppa coffee in hand animated-smileys-drinking-044.gif

Car has just gone in to have the brakes sorted, more money sigh :( but if winter is going to be as bad as the forecast I want to make sure that it is the safest it can possibly be. My DH is worth much more than mere money to me.
I have to renew the insurance next week as well so that will be another £218 which isn't bad for fully comp and I already have that saved. And we still need to get the chimney and boiler checked this month as well, our little savings pot is really emptying out fast.

So living off the contents of the freezer and cupboards mainly this month, at least it will clear some room for the Christmassy bits :p

Thank goodness I am well ahead on Christmas and don't have much left to get now:p

October is mass pickling month, so that will be pickled onions, piccalilli and various chutney's to make, I did red cabbage when it was on super six. I am so glad I picked up extra jars when they were reduced to £1.99 for 4 in Aldi a couple of weeks ago.

Just started knitting DD an extra long jumper, before she pinches my one animated-smileys-rolleyes-05.gif

Still not heard from the hospital, hopefully the appointment will be here by tomorrow, if not I am ringing the GP to chase things up.

Mrs TA glad Mr TA enjoyed himself, it will do him the world of good.

Dumpling I hope DGD is ok, DS used to have febrile convulsions caused by a high temperature from very young, but he grew out of them thank goodness, but it was really frightening when he had them.

Judi, she probably thought she was helping and didn't realise (((Hugs)))

Right I have rambled on long enough

Off to get the dinner on, the boys are having lasagne tonight with salad and garlic bread. I am having some lemon sole with salad

I've been busier than I anticipated!

Got two loads of washing out on the line, the sheets and underwear are now dry though the living room rugs are still rather damp so I'll leave them out a little bit longer.

Did the downstairs vacuuming and the light dusting too. Then I've spent most of the afternoon checking the online progress of my 24 students. As I get paid by the module I like to keep an eye on things and will need to chase up those who have not even started - for their own good too.

I've ordered two sets of curtains from a company online just to see what they're like really as they are a winter weight and fully lined. Need to think about poles! I'm still going down to JLewis tomorrow as I want some more flannelette bed linen. I've put a set on the spare bed and then realised that I've only got one set... and I'll look at the curtain material there too.

Welcome to 'ancient of days' and 'Howmuch'.

I've got a glass of wine already poured and waiting for Strictly / Zoe Ball, silly I know but I do like to have a start time otherwise it's too easy to let it slip down, not having a 'coming home from work time' anymore makes my discipline all the more needed!
  • Gers - I got some good curtain poles from Ikea, really easy to put up and adjust. I just bought the stoppers for the ends but you can get some different finials. Another good place with quite a lot of choice is Dunelm, not too expensive either, there's one in Clydebank and another at the retail park opposite Glasgow Airport.

Have fun at John Lewis, once I get in there I forget to come out!
