Hi folks,

Its time again to ring retentions at Talktalk to haggle another contract for fibre medium.

last time I got essentials half price for 18 mths, free international calls, £2 per mth loyalty bonus for 12 months, fibre medium for £5 per month, anytime calls usual price at £7.50 per month

I don't know if I can improve on that, but would like to get at least the same.

Anyone else being in contact with Talktalk retentions recently and got any good deals?

Thanks

Hi, Have they contacted you with price increase?
]I'm out of contract, 12 months now with TT.
I've just had a circular today, with their latest offers.endsnovember.
what's the point of a contract,? if they can ignore it, and raise prices at will, which they have done twice this year.
I'm expecting a letter/e-mail from them myself, saying mine's going up with a bang.
I'm tempted to ring them, like you, but why disturb them.
I'll wait till Nov when my line rental's due Upfront.
    Been with them years now.AOL/CPW/TT.
  • Thanks for reply.

I have a basic Talktalk youview box not the + tv one.

I think the package is called Essentials tv now or something like that, getting it for half price for contact length, but to be honest I don't really want it atall, since I have nowtv box connected to tv for catchup.

Does anyone know if you can opt out of essentials tv with talktalk fibre (say with a new contract) as I only want fibre, anytime calls, international calls?

I always looked on this essentials thing as just another way to get more money out of customers (or subsidise the tv box) and don't really want it, if there is a way to get fibre and calls without it.

    Anyone know please?
    Thanks a lot.

If you are now out of contract, you should be able to pick and mix, with a new one, but line rentals going up to £191, so , renew that sooner ,if possible.60 days prior to ending.?
    .
The 3 deals at present for £7.50pm, are Fibre BB /BB and anytime calls unlimited(what I'm on) / Tv.BB & calls.
I'm only paying £2 pm for my package,(2nd one) ( no contract), so loathe to phone them
.Been on that years it's .due to rise to £10.40 from Oct 1st, ( ex AOL Plat)
Lots of people are leaving TT due to rises, but, I'm waiting to see what they decide to hit me with.
As I said earlier, they can up prices anytime, so contract isn't worth the paper it's written on., that's why I haven't renewed mine.+ doubt they will match it:eek:
If you are happy with what you have, and they haven't notified you of a rise, don't rock the boat, like me.
Now I've said this, bet I get the dreaded e-mail/letter:rotfl:

    Thanks for reply Joe134.

I do have a few months left on my fibre contract but the thing is I do have to ring them before I am out of contract, else all the discounts I am getting will just revert to normal prices.

I know some people complain about the offshore call centre at talktalk but to be honest I have got a better deal and seems more politer staff there than the loyalty team in UK.

it seems now that because of the October price rises that a lot of the calls are being routed to the UK call centres, and my personal experience is its impossible to get a good deal with them.

There seems to be a lot of disgruntled customers in Talktalk at the moment, problems not being sorted out, engineer charges, termination fees etc, you only have to head over to their forum to see this,

I have been lucky with the fibre package no real problems with it so far, but I really do feel for any customer with a problem who has to deal with Talktalk, makes me wonder sometimes do I really want to be part of a company who seemingly has customers who are unhappy.

Maybe all ips are the same, I don't know, I'm sure a lot of others providers maybe have disgruntled customers too.

I'm just trying to be fair to Talktalk here, personally speaking I am paying £10 more for my deal per month than what I did a year ago, and the charges are getting nearer the norm

Hi, Like you , I speak as I find, and so far, TT have been ok.Preferred it when it was AOL.
I know others have had grief, but, prices, are a thing that, you always seem to be chasing your tail, trying to always having the cheapest, and Best, are not always possible.
One can always find cheaper, but, what's the service like?
Just look at the threads , all major ISP's are there, giving problems to customers.
    To me,service is most important.
Until TT give me cause to leave, I will stay put, but, as my line rental is due next month,( upfront), then they will probably try and increase my other charges.
I might as well ask then about my package, as it's no good renewing my line, only to be hit a few weeks later with a package which is not suitable pricewise.
I'm expecting it to rise,I have had a good long run, at £2 per month for unlimited BB and anytime unlimited talk on phone, for years now.
Most problems with ISP's, seems to be switching.
Also, upping prices mid-contract has to be the worst.
    It should not be allowed.
When I have phoned TT ( rarely) I have been all round the globe, India, SA, etc, but always polite.I tend to use their Chat, but, as I say, I have not had cause to complain.
    Hope I'm not tempting fate.
