It was your error in picking the wrong item. By law they don't have to reimburse you, it's like choosing a dress and changing your mind about the colour. If the milk was off, it would be a different matter.

In a village I once lived in Scotland the son of the postmaster/Spar owner told me a story of a lady who used to do bed and breakfasts occasionally. She actually asked if she bought bacon one day and got no clients, could she bring the bacon back? This is taking frugality a step tooooo far!

I used to work for Co Op and a woman came in once and picked up a chicken that had been marked for first reduction and asked me if I could put it in the fridge out the back and she would come back later tonight after last reductions and buy it cheaper!!

Least she was prepared to wait! When I worked in a supermarket people would ask if I would reduce down more there and then. And people pull stuff of the shelf asking if I was going to reduce it even before the code check had been done.

I think you missed the point. She wanted it taken off the shelf and hidden so we could reduce it down at the end of the day. It would most likely sell at the higher price before last reductions were done.
  • Didn't miss no point. The stuff people were asking to be reduced further would also more than likely be sold before the last reductions are done also.

I had excellent service from Lidl, yesterday, via their telephone customer contact.

I bought an electric heated back soothing pad, but found it actually painful to wear, as the present model is rigid , compared to softer previous pads and cushions and the holding belt was also uncomfortable.

I rang customer service, to ask my position , as the product is useless to me, but is not faulty. They agreed to a refund and gave me a code to write on the receipt, when returning the item to the store where it was bought.

You get what you pay for and customer service is not one of them in stores like this.

As I have said many times when people champion them try taking back your half eaten pot of jam and see what they do. In Sainsburys they will refund you, but all this costs money and this is simply no part of their business model.

They can't refund you as they will have to throw it away and this is not a cost they want to bear.

Absolute nonsense!! In stores like this?? What planet are you from?
Your post reminds me of a couple of characters in TV programmes such as 'Are you being served?' and 'Keeping up Appearances'. You wouldn't be a Mrs Bucket or Mrs Slokem by any chance?
I shop at both Aldi and Lidl and have never once been refused a refund or exchange for something I've taken back. So don't knock these stores for knocking sake. Both A and L have opened in my town in the past two years and are taking millions in turnover the local Tesco and Asda stores. Have you got a problem with that?

Same here, though ,once, the Aldi manageress was reluctant to reimburse me for some in-date strawberries which had gone mouldy overnight, because I had no receipt. However , she relented when I pointed out that the product was obviously theirs (packaging) and that I didn't expect to keep the receipts for every food item, just in case.

I've even had a refund for a lavender plant, which didn't flourish . It was one of four bought, where the other three were fine.
