Customer Service in Lidl

I went to Lidl this week as I wanted to take advantage of the loyalty card offer. I picked up soy milk, unusually it was in the chiller despite it stating it needed to be refrigerated only after opening. When I got home I realised it was sweetened, I only take unsweetened so returned with it today (as was needing other things) with my receipt. I was told I could not have a receipt as it was a "chiller item". I challenged it's need to be in the refrigerator and was told, "contact customer services then." I said "I think I will." They said, "Go on then do that." as they walked away from me. I didn't feel like I was being confrontational or aggressive or angry. The response from the staff member was harsh and definitely not what I would call good customer service!:(

You get what you pay for and customer service is not one of them in stores like this.
As I have said many times when people champion them try taking back your half eaten pot of jam and see what they do. In Sainsburys they will refund you, but all this costs money and this is simply no part of their business model.
They can't refund you as they will have to throw it away and this is not a cost they want to bear.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -

I don't agree, my local Aldi has great customer service. I have had to return a few things in the past, steak that was very smelly and off and a cheesecake that was bashed and ruined.
All I did was take the item back when I did my next shop (did put steak in a wrapping) asked to speak to someone that could help me and sowed my recpeit and the product I was returning and they told me just to get another one at the chiller and instruct the till staff that I had spoken to XXXXX and they will just ignore it and not scan the item.
Bish Bash Bosh. Easy as that, not problems no drama.0 -

I have found similar with Aldi and returned nappies that were the wrong size without question. They are always happy to help and smile at you too. I don't think being a discount store means customer service is out the window.0 -
People are people and we will sometimes catch one in a bad mood, or someone who's just mardy. I've always had excellent service at my local Lidl from every member of staff I've had contact with. Goes for the local Aldi too.The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

I'll let you know later about Lidl response to an apple tree purchased three years ago. What should have been Cox Orange Pippen turned out to be variety called Jazz.0

My local lidl staff are perfectly polite and helpful, even advising people spending over £40 to quickly grab a free paper and rip the voucher out to instantly give then £5 off their shopping.
Anyway, why should they swap your milk because YOU picked the wrong one? Beggars belief.0 -
They treat it as a chilled item therefore can't exchange it as they can't put back into the cold chain. Even though it isn't technically a chilled item.
Would you have still tried to exchange it even if it was a chilled item, and expect them to bare the cost of the waste for your error?0 -
In a village I once lived in Scotland the son of the postmaster/Spar owner told me a story of a lady who used to do bed and breakfasts occasionally. She actually asked if she bought bacon one day and got no clients, could she bring the bacon back?
