    I've been Money Tipped!
Dehumidifiers area godsend in our old cottage. Couldn't do without ( we have 3!!!!).
we have a small delonghi that we move around as required and 2 ebacs with large capacity that stay put. Ebac is made in the UK and their customer service is absolutely brilliant and would recommend them any day.
clean filters make a big difference on how well they work.

Have been using Dehumidifier for 3+ years - delonghi
I mainly use it in to dry clothes - one of our rooms is used as clothes storage and to dry laundry. Have not used drier since then!!
Dehumidifiers are noisy and can be obtrusive if you are a light sleeper.
I would choose a larger one - look for the drying capacity and also the water tank size.

We have an Ebac which we bought over 12 years ago, its still working and keeps moisture out of the air, would definitely recommend it.

I have a matsui dehumidifier that is around 28 years old and still working great its on now in the porch. I also have a Mitsubsi dehumidifier and that is almost 2 years old and no issues either.

The Mistubshi one was expensive but its quieter than many on market and its slim build so great for hallways. The water container is at front and the dehumidifier is capable of working in cold environments where some may have difficulty

My daughter had a De'Longhi dem10 and that broke. She got a new replacement one and that broke too. She is now using the Aldi one we got her last week

I purchased from John Lewis as I had read that dehumidifiers break down often and John Lewis after sales service is excellent.

    Thanks for the replies.

Quietness is the main requirement as the dehumidifier will be close to our bedroom. The house isn't usually damp, but in the winter it's the condensation on the windows that we want to get rid of.

The quietest one we can find with a good spec is the EcoAir DD122 MK5 Desiccant Classic so that is looking favourite at the moment. Power consumption is not an issue as we'll only run it in the winter and the power consumed ends up as heat.

    A few threads here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/search.php?searchid=164330557

I am quite surprised that the Drimaster hasn't been discussed more since the cold weather started. Mind you reading the first thread would put me off looking further into the very obvious benefits of it.

I have Which? membership and recently bought their Best Buy a Meaco 20L Low Energy Platinum Dehumidifier 20 Litre. Its not cheap at £229 but it is very good from both a Which? point of view and a user's.

'Which' is about as reliable/trustworthy as a bloke down the pub.

Interesting comment. I guess it depends on which (no pun intended) bloke you're talking about.
