Line rental Broadband 14 day notice period

Since we no longer need a mac code the 14 days cancellation period is taken from when the new provider contacts the old. I was told it's industry wide so that's 14+ days every switch.


So who did you switch from and to?
When did it go live?
When did the new provider contact the old?

I'm not sure, as it was almost two years ago, but when I moved from BT to Sky, BT were contacted within days, but the switch took another two weeks.


One point: You mustn't cancel, but ask the new provider to take over . (I did this, but did check with BT that the transfer was going ahead and received a confirmation email shortly after this).


When I cancelled my Sky tv and discussed leaving with phone and internet, should I not get a good offer, I mentioned that the latter only needed two weeks' notice, compared to the TV's month. I was told that notice for internet is also a month, but suspect this is for actual cancellation, as opposed to transfer. ( I have a feeling, though, that on transferring after two weeks,you are still billed for a month).

I think Sky is still 30 days. My mum enquired recently to see if they would reduce the charges and was told that. She's cancelled Sky and will find another provider just before she goes on holiday. Wonder if they will still charge her 14 days after the switch? EE broadband told me it was irrelevant, they only work on when the new provider informs them.
