Morning everyone.
So sorry that I forgot to put a thread up last week for those who want to be involved with this. I need to track carefully this week, as I have my son's birthday party today and a funeral to attend later this week, which is going to add to spends. I hope some of you will come and keep me company.

Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

COLOR="Teal"]This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.[/COLOR]

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

  • Hi Crazy_cat_lady please can I join? I'm back on the debt free wagon and know that my general spends are what is letting me down. Can you put me down for £10 please? I'm a SAHM so this will cover playgroups and any parking as well as any surprise school expenses xx

  • I went on a YS hunt after my exercise class tonight. Got 2 cauliflowers, 1kg organic carrots, mini chicken fillets and turkey stir fry strips for £2.10 - worth every penny. Plus when I paid, the machine spat me out a £9 off £70 spend - so I reckon I will do my big shop there on payday.

Hi everyone. Miscellaneous spends are at £2.50 for two playgroups so am doing well so far. My groceries spend is down as well at £25 so the rest of my budget has gone to debt repayments :D A NSD today as DD and I went for a walk down the river to feed the ducks and then DH and I will be going to the local pool tonight but we have membership

  • I've had a NSD today but yesterday was really spendy for me. I've not properly totalled it yet, but it involved travel 100 miles round trip for a funeral, plus dinner on the go for me and the kids.

    Evening all.

Well I managed a NSD on Friday but the weekend hasn't been great. We had our family day out yesterday but hadn't considered parking charges and then we had to get DS's bike fixed. Then DH dragged us all to B&Q which is never a good idea when you don't have a plan. Here are my budgets/spends for this week and hopefully I'll do better next week.

    Groceries £47/£50
    Entertainment £9.50/£10
    Unexpected parking charges £3.00
    Bike repairs £15
    B&Q £8
