Thanks so much for your lovely comments ETE and MFD. We had a great day and mum really enjoyed seeing all the family. Ages ranged from 84 yrs to 3 weeks so it was good fun. Crazy day at work, can't believe it is only Monday  Just finished preparing for tomorrow. Thank heavens it is half term next week. Am starting to get sorted for Christmas now. Have collected various little bits and pieces on offer during the year and have all my money ready in its virtual pot. Just need to get organised now. Am planning a trip to Norwich to visit DS2 during half-term so will enjoy looking around the shops. A much bigger choice than where we live. Not much money news to report other than a 14p TT. Am looking forward to payday as will finally receive a "proper" month's salary including my claim only contract hours and some travel expenses. Might be a bumper month but only if it doesn't take me over the student loan threshold in which case I may be worse off :rotfl:Starting Mortgage 01.08.08 £171,209.24. Just made OP and balance now standing at £40,119.52 :j so close to the £30s. Daily interest down to £2.59 although that didn't reflect today's payment so should be a little lower than that tomorrow. Its creeping down bit by bit :j All those TTs, TCBs and frugal savings really to make a difference. Yes, I am obsessed with bargains, vouchers, deals, turning off lights and turning off heating, but do I care? No definitely not because I will be the one laughing manically :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: when I am MF and can make lifestyle choices :TStarting Mortgage 01.08.08 £171,209.24. Yes, you will! It is amazing how all those savings add up. Glad mum's party went well. XPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Woo, so close to 30s!
I don't understand leaving lights on, to be honest. It really bugs me, even now when we're technically getting electricity for free from our supplier. It's just wasteful, IMO.0 -
Thanks SSS and HiddenShadow. It's getting exciting now. Have been MIA due to contracting some sort of lurgy typically just as half term started. This is my first day up since Friday and I have jelly legs and feel like a limp lettuce leaf (as my mum would say). No exciting money news, apart from the fact that being in bed means deffo no spending on my part. Sadly can't quite say the same for DH who has made numerous trips to the supermarket taking no notice of my meal plan as he took on the role of nurse, cook and bottle washer :rotfl: May need to review this week's food budget ..........Starting Mortgage 01.08.08 £171,209.24. Oops have neglected my diary and been MIA following my strange illness that appeared from nowhere and wiped me out, following by leaping straight back into teaching after half-term. it has been crazy. Have sorted the First Direct regular saver and transferred to Santander for now. New regular saver started, bit disappointed that it has dipped to 5%, used to be 8% when we first took one out. Energy transfer has gone through very smoothly - just waiting for £55 to be refunded from EON. Monthly DD reduced by £15 which is not to be sniffed at as we head towards winter. Have completed various bits and pieces of christmas shopping and feeling quite pleased with myself. Everything has been achieved via TCB or in a bargainous way and the money is all saved up waiting for me. Strangely even though the money is there it still seems wrong to be spending it - this MSE way of life certainly has an impact. I just don't want to be buying stuff and have changed the types of gifts I buy to reflect that. Well, sadly the weekend is over. Off to pack my work bag and get ready to face Monday :eek:Starting Mortgage 01.08.08 £171,209.24. How can it be Wednesday night already? This week is whizzing by. Have lost 4 hours of teaching per week since half term as two groups had to be merged. It makes me so cross the way hours can be whisked away without an apology or explanation, but you are expected to leap into action as soon as something else needs to be covered. Anyway rant over, I shouldn't really be surprised, it happens every year. Currently investigating a new mortgage rate with FD. OH should have have sufficient self employed records for them to consider him. We are currently on a 2.25% interest rate but it would be great to snaffle a 1.8 or less. Fingers crossed.Starting Mortgage 01.08.08 £171,209.24. boo to FD who still won't authorise us for a mortgage with them due to OH's self-employed status. We have been customers with them for ever and it is clear OH earns far more than is required to authorise the amount of the mortgage. Even my part time salary was almost enough to cover it but they wouldn't budge. We have to wait until May next year when the two years will be up. Oh well, we tried - it is just disappointing not to be able to take advantage of these low rates  On a brighter note am cracking on with the Christmas shopping and little parcels are turning up with the postman. Will be making the christmas cake with mum on Sunday and am also going to try my hand at pickled red cabbage for the first time. Mum is an expert so she will be guiding me :rotfl: Anticipating a NSD today. Was hoping to do some tidying up in the garden but looking out of the window at the pouring rain I doubt whether this will happen. Even the dog has retreated back to his bed. He is very happy this weekend as his "cone of shame" has been taken off, so he is very skitty :rotfl: Happy weekend and NSDs everyone.

Oh no to FD... I am hoping to move mortgage to them next year!! My wages will hopefully cover it, however my husband will be A) too old for the official length of mortgage
he has a very chequered financial history and wouldn't be touched with a barge pole.
I know from Halif@x, we had to go to underwriters to shorten length, but they wouldn't take Oh's wages and lodgers income into account.Mortgage restart June 2018 £119950Re mortgage August 19 £110470, … Mortgage November 22 £85600 final 0% CC 3300Home renovations - £65000, mid 2018 - mid 20220
