Yes, you are right Hiddenshadow, they are quite quick and not too painful. Although I can't count the times I have reported my TV viewing lol.

Another NSD today (apart from the packet of rolos I scoffed on the way home as I had a difficult afternoon at work and decided I deserved a treat, but that came from personal spends so doesn't really count :rotfl:). Managed to find school shoes at Debenhams with 20% off and TCB so that was a result. Will be able to pick them up tomorrow. So today and tomorrow DS4 will have to manage with a holey shoe. Perhaps he will tell me before the final day of half-term next time :rotfl: It's all character building ;)

  • The end of a busy week is in sight :j Had to take out some cash tonight as had promised to sponsor a friend for a worthy cause. We met for a quick drink and it was her turn to pay so not too painful, and a lovely catch up. Current account looking a little poorly but pay day is not too far away now so we should be able to hold on. Am investigating pensions atm. Mine is looking very poor as I had quite a few years as a stay at home mum. I have a couple of deferred pensions with previous employers and currently pay into the TPA scheme. Although DH has a decent pension pot, I fear that I have left things a little late for myself. Still will do some research and see what I come up with. Almost Friday everyone.

A knock on the door last night and there was my lovely DS1, home for a surprise visit and a little TLC after a stressful week of masters assignment deadlines. Such a lovely surprise, and I apparently had just driven straight past him on my way home without realising it :rotfl: Can't believe I didn't recognise my own son. Big shop at Aldee this morning. Just under £70 for four adults (and now 5 adults for the weekend). About average. Prob about another £10 ish will be spent at Mr T. This includes most lunches, toiletries, dog food etc so not too bad. Entered on my spreadsheet so I do keep a careful eye on things and notice if spends are creeping up. No spends anticipated atm for this weekend. We will see what happens ;) Happy weekend all.

  • Hope you have a lovely time with DS and he gets a good break. :)
  • Thanks Hidden, so lovely to have him home. I do miss the boys when they are at Uni. He is beginning to mention undertaking an internship in Australia next year  Will have to start preparing myself for that one ! Just back from a quick trip to town. Returned shoes that didn't fit DS4 so will get credit on CC on which they were purchased. Managed to buy some slightly cheaper ones which am very pleased about. Stuck to my list and although indulged myself in a little look around, didn't buy anything not on the list, so am feeling pleased about that. How times change when you begin this challenge. Annoyed with myself for forgetting to cash in euros from a recent trip. Wanted to pay them into bank account as they will offset the price of tickets for a footie match DH, DS1 and DS2 are planning to attend this pm. Trying to ensure current account doesn't go o/d as we are a little near the knuckle atm. Hopefully DH will pop in later before they leave and sort it out if he gets a chance, if not first thing Monday. Enjoy Saturday everyone :)

Hi GreenT, yes it really was. Always lovely to have a cuddle, as big as they are! Pay day arrived and money has been transferred to the various pots and the spreadsheet updated :T I am sure I get a little too excited doing this, but I am equally sure I am in good company here :rotfl: Also found 12p on the floor of the car this morning. I expect it has fallen from the pocket of one of the two DSs still at home or DH. However, it has now "fallen" into my money counting jar where it will be looked after safely. Tilly tidy made of 51p this morning, and am impatiently awaiting for £7.40 to become available via TCB. Thursday tomorrow, hopefully won't be accompanied on my homeward journey by hurricane Doris as I was last week :rotfl:

Survived another week of madness at work and it's Friday :T First payment has gone off mortgage of our new increased OP. Need to try and find another £125 so that we are paying off double the mortgage amount each month. As we have no on-line access, will ring up on Monday, to check new balance and daily interest amount. No spends this week outside of budget which I am really pleased with. However, did today buy 4 Christmas presents. I know, that word shouldn't be mentioned yet, but I saw some lovely Yankee candle sets reduced in Boots and I had enough points to cover them - win win. They have been tucked away in my secret hiding place. DS3 off to Lincoln Uni for an interview tomorrow, so that will be petrol and probably some food/coffee/snack type spends. Will do my best to persuade DH to take a pack up but he's not easily persuaded. Usual houseworkey type tasks are calling. Washing machine is on second load. 2 beds have been changed, one to go. Hoovered and washed kitchen floor, hall and lounge. Just the bathrooms to go. I love a relaxing day off :rotfl: Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Hi chumpy, popped across to your diary after reading your comments on mine. Have read through your diary. I was just thinking this morning after receiving a disappointing student loan statement that's it's going to be a challenge supporting my two through uni. Credit to you doing it all at once!
