Phew, payday finally arrived :T money shuffle has been done and dusted (and thoroughly enjoyed - do love a good spreadsheet play). Another month off the mortgage which is fantabuloso - really beginning to see a difference to the months now. Keeps the motivation and inspiration going (not that it was lacking in the first place). DH's new job seems to be going well and the natives are friendly. Always a tense time  Have caught up with a mountain of ironing over the weekend and sorted the socks. What is it with socks? There is definitely a gremlin in our sock basket. There are more odd socks than even despite my best efforts. I even sent photos of odd socks to DS1 and DS2 at Uni asking if they had any missing partners :rotfl: Will carry on with my mission and post updates! Had fun in the Nation of wide where I have opened a JISA for DS4 (as a potential Uni savings pot). Have been trying to transfer in his CTF. Apparently I shouldn't have been able to open the JISA online if I had requested an external transfer in form (which bizarrely had to be posted). However, I seemed to manage it :rotfl: the poor NW lady (who was fab and really helpful) said she had never seen it happen before. Oh well there is always one:rotfl: Off to search for more unsuspecting socks ......

Well done on the OP, and hope DH's new job continues to go well. :)

Good luck on the sock front - we have a small pile of odd socks growing...

Hi Chumpy, managed to find your diary too and subscribed. It would seem I share your 'love' of ironing :rotfl: I have a rather large pile that needs my attention before Monday morning, well work and school gear does, the rest can wait until everyone is out leaving me to tackle it in peace :)

You've done an amazing job on bringing that mortgage total down

Well done on the OP - tell me about the socks! We seem to accumulate odd ones over a couple of months until they find their partner again (or never do :p)

Oh dear have been neglecting my own diary. Have been loitering, gaining inspiration and looking at other peoples instead :rotfl: Still a struggle to get DH on board which can be a little demotivating at times, but am determined to get there. Have caught up with ions of ironing today which has made me feel better. The odd socks continue to taunt me, laughing from the bottom of the laundry basket in their solitary state. I have even designed a coded system using pegs (striped socks, plain socks, sports socks etc) to try and gain back control but they remain elusive. Lovely to see the sun shining, makes you feel Spring might be lurking there somewhere. It was payday for me yesterday :T just got to wait for DH's money to go in so that I can do some spreadsheet updating and OPing. My favourite time of the month of course :rotfl: Chilli simmering away with jacket pots in the oven. Made a big batch so that some can be tucked away in the freezer. DS4's Sunday footie has finished so can finally have a lie in tomorrow. Am sooooo looking forward to that :j Have bank holiday weekend everyone.

High stress levels at work today following visit by O*sted  just about survived today, let's see what tomorrow brings. Relaxing now by looking at my lovely spreadsheets and gaining inspiration from MFW diaries :rotfl: Another £30 from selling some old text books arrived in my bank account today which has been whisked over to the OP holding pot. Waiting for DH to see his Accountant soon to find out what can be paid from business account, am hopeful we might be able to make a little chunk of OP to make up for the couple of months we have missed due to DH having no work for a few weeks earlier this year. Fingers crossed for that one. DS4 now has a sparkly new JISA which is being used to stash some money toward Uni in about 5 years. Managed to successfully transfer his CTF as well so feeling very pleased that is sorted and up and running. Popped in to the branch to have the passbook updated, which was very satisfying - note to self, get out more :rotfl: Trying to empty out the garage freezer as it is in dire need of defrosting, so having some weird meals this week, but at least it reduced the shopping bill :T Need to pay balance of holiday in a couple of days, but the money is sitting ready so not too painful. Onwards and upwards :)

Survived O*sted and lived to tell the tale. Luckily I was not observed, but whilst I was initially relieved, I now feel almost a little cheated after all the extra work lol. A NSD today - mainly cos I didn't have time to go near any shops !! DS3 bought me a chocolate bar as I had been such a stress head :) Washing on the line now in the late sunshine, and spag bol cooking. Must remember to pay holiday tomorrow and also send off passport applications for DS2 and DS3, certainly not a NSD but holiday money accounted for. Sadly not the passports as hadn't realised they were expiring. Relaxing tonight :T

Rather than overpaying once you're on a cheap rate, the mortgage is cheap funding that you could put into share / property funds isas for higher returns

Or various current accounts that beat mortgage interest

    Phew, that's a relief

It must be similar to how we used to feel, in the old days when I worked for a bank, when we had the inspectors in.
It was so stressful, having people around watching everything, waiting to jump on you for even the smallest mistake!

Thanks for this Matthew - hadn't really considered that as an alternative. Just get too excited paying chunks of the mortgage :rotfl: Would require me to develop some patience but will definitely start researching

Thanks Goldie for your comments - yes it is the not knowing that I found really stressful. My students were lovely and kept laughing everytime a door opened or someone walked down a corridors as I kept forgetting what I was saying :rotfl:

Lovely NSD yesterday courtesy of my bestie who had a voucher for a lovely local spa where we had a yummy lunch outside in the gardens with a little sneaky post Ofsted Pimms mmmmmmm and totally free :T

Just off to do weekly shop. Have menu planned trying to use contents of big freezer which is in urgent need of defrost, so hopefully can keep costs low this week - although may have some strange meals. Still sunny and its the weekend :T
