Sound stupid but has my LG 42" tv got an off switch?
It seems to be on permanent standby with the red light glowing so surely this is bad for the environment and my electric bill?

Your TV is rated at 3W standby, so if left on for 24 hours, it should consume 75W or less. Even if left on continuously for one year, it should only cost a couple of pounds, however you do presumably use it for some of the hours in the day, so the actual standby figure would only be a pound or so.

yeah but even still expresso if the TV is turned off it doesnt cost any moneySavings Total so far for 2023: £8,062.580

I suppose that it depends how much of a tight rrrrr's you are then!
I wonder if you could calculate the monetary cost of using your own time and energy in physically switching it off and on each time and how much of an effect on that would have on the total energy saving."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Well I couldn't but with a standby rating of 3W, it's just not worth the effort anyway! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

I'm just suprised that in an age when they keep telling us to save energy they make tvs that dont turn off
AND I thought they used about the same on standyby as switched on, or was that the old teles.

I actually agree with you, all TV's etc. should come with an On/Off switch, I do know that Philips LCD TV 's have them, so why not others?.. penny pinching.?
Personally I wouldn't buy one without.;)0
