Beware British Airways draconian 1 bag policy

British Airways ( international flights ) have recently implemented a draconian interpretation of the "one piece of hand luggage, per person, to be taken onboard".
They now prevent you from taking one piece of hand luggage and
a laptopbag or
even a handbag.
Obviously if the other item fits inside your hand luggage you can take it on.

Notes
This measure ONLY affects British Airways passengers.
Once through customs they ignore this rule so you can be parted with your money in the duty free shops.
BA departures from the UK have one of the lowest baggage allowences on international flights - just 27 KG per person. Compare this to the allowences allowed by Airfrance, Emirates, Air Mauritius and Cosair when travelling from France or Italy.

Dont get caught out, ensure you have one bag only. or fly with a more customer focused airline .

I stand corrected, I quoted the reps at Mauritius international airport who stated it was only BA flights.

AFAIK, this policy was implmented last year during the "liquids" security scare. On every flight out of the UK I have taken since then there has been a one bag hand luggage policy.

i'd have a serious thought about removing the post ...it is totally inaccurate ...people have already pointed out you are wrong about the hand baggage allowance ...i can't be bothered to check all the other airlines but you are wrong about air frances' baggage allowance being more generous than BA's .

    • Each passenger is restricted to carrying only one item of cabin baggage through the airport search point with a maximum size of 56cm x 45cm x 25cm. Other bags, such as handbags, may be carried within the single item of cabin baggage.
    • Where possible, put all liquid

      • Where possible, put all liquid items in your hold baggage. This includes water and other drinks, creams, sprays, pastes and gels.
      • Liquids, gels and aerosols are only allowed in individual containers of 100ml. All containers must fit comfortably in one, transparent, re-sealable bag no larger than 20cm x 20cm (eg a freezer bag).
Am slightly confused with the last one... 'Liquids, gels and aerosols' etc...do they mean these items in your hand baggage, or in your hold baggage?

would I still have to put them in a see thru bag even though there are in my suitcase?
