Any students out there who will be starting uni this year (Sept/Oct) hold fire till you open a nice student account with a lovely interest free overdraft because.....
Very shortly the banks will be battling for your business. As well as a nice interest free overdraft they will be wanting to shower you with gifts. I'm not saying that the same will happen this year, but last year when I opened my account both HSBC and NatWest were offering free *FIVE YEAR* railcards with their accounts. So wait for the offers and your UCAS offer and you can be laughing at saving:-
a) any interest you'd have to pay on your overly-abused overdraft
b) £100 (plus any inflation) on five 1-year railcards
c) 30% on most train fares.
I've saved over £150 in fares this year. So if you're starting uni this year don't open your account yet and don't buy a railcard yet. You'll get both if you wait.#145 Save £12k in 2016 Challenge: £12,062.62/£12,000.00 Beginning Balance: £5,027.78 CHALLENGE MET

I noticed that it does not actually say anywhere that photocopies of the voucher are not acceptable, so my hubby has made a few copies at work for me and I have distributed them to my friends - we shall have to wait and see if they will honour them though, but I don't see why not.0
