VED evasion up under new system.
The results are in and it looks like the switch to paperless VED has lead to an increase in Car Tax dodging, with those not paying up by an incredible 60% over the old paper Tax disc.
Yet another epic fail by our Govt.

we see our old car driving about most days. A vehicle check out of curiosity says it's been untaxed since 01/03/2015. It did get a new mot in April though, so the owner remembered that!0

2 of my neighbours have gone back to buying cars from the auction running them with trade insurance and will use the excuse they just bought it or on a test drive if stopped.

Perhaps it's not the evasion that's up, but the detection of the evasion is now much better, or maybe a bit of both.
As an example, every time the police change the definition of what constitutes a race hate crime, the crime rate for that changes0 -

According to my figures, only 11.334,576 people voted for them, whereas 19,363,259 people voted against them, so that isn't true, there's more chance we didn't

I'm curious, how do you know its up 60%? Is it because people tried to fiddle it and got caught? Was there a poll?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Is this thread going to stay on topic? Or is it going to be like many other threads and descend into an argument on pedantry ... this time regarding whether people actually did or didn't vote for the government?
