Meter Number not recognised - Cant switch

Looking for advice / help.

Moved into a house last year, which was about 7 years old.

Previous owner was always with British gas, but i had problems switching providers as none of the other companies could recognise my Gas supply or my Gas meter number when i provided it.

I eventually managed to find out that whilst the electricity meter is properly assigned to the house ( number 2), British gas struggled to find the supply and eventually cam back and managed to confirm the meter number was actually registered against "Plot 6", which turned out to be the name of the house while it was being built, and seemingly the meter was never updated to be against the actual house address (number 2).

need help in trying to get this fixed so i am not limited!

In the end last year i tried to switch to sainburys, and that went through ok in the finish, but dont like being restricted to either british gas or sainburys, and want to get it fixed!

please help!

You can check if your house is connected to an IGT pipeline by referring to your Gas Meter to find out whether your house is connected to the National Grid or an IGT. The numbers 74, 75, 76 and 77 upon your meter indicate that gas is transported to your house by an IGT. If your property has any other number upon your meter that indicates that your gas is transported to you through the national grid.

There are apparently 6 IGT in the UK :

GTC Pipelines
Independent Pipelines
ES Pipelines
Energetics
Fulcrum Pipelines
SSE Pipelines

There a couple numbers to try for these IGT :

i tried :

01359240363 (GTC i think)

VERY helpful they actually spent a long time digging through things and eventually found my MPRN, confirmed the adress was still down as the "plot number" and helpfully confirmed my IGT was actually ES Pipelines and proceeded to give me their number :

01372 227 560

these guys also very helpful i gave them the MPRN number and he updated the adress t be correct (also postcode was wrong), within 2 minutes which will update the national gas registry database within 24 hours!

there was no holding on phones etc really smooth.

Last year when i tried to get this fixed through my energy supplier at the time 9british gas) i was on the phone nearly 2 hours before someone said they would update the gas register and never did, so dont wast your time with the supplier go straight to the really helpful IGT or national grid if not an IGT!!!
