  • I have too had bad dealing recently with these people.i orders an epc ,accessor came and I paid £30.00 for their service.
I then before the 24 hr threat of additional charges paid the £9.95 they asked for or so I thoughtr.last Sunday I received a rude call from a James Scott demanding I paid 9.95 plus 14.95 plus 50 for a letter,I told them no letter had been received and there must be a mistake as i had paid my fee to them for 9.95.
After a lot of abuse on his part I then put the phone down as is mannerism was getting a bit sarcastic towards me.James Scot then rang me again and straight after and said that he will forward to a debt collected and then said if I paid now he would reduce the bill owed to just £50,I said that I would forward a payment of £9.95 and that was all he was getting.
After finishing my call I contacted my credit card who informed me that there was a possibility that he refused to take the original payment.
Yesterday evening I was then contacted again by James Scott saying 9.95 is not acceptable and I leave him no choice but to go through the next line of action. Can he do this?

Hi Ninjar, welcome to the forums.

Sorry to be blunt, but your best line of action is to read the rest of this thread and learn from what others have done.

HI all.....god I love this site!

I have also "fallen" for this.

I needed an EPC on my flat, I filled in an on line form - i saw this as noting more than a normal contact form for them to contact me, if they wanted payment why not take this upfront?

I cancelled my order within four hours and e mailed them.

I have just received an e mail saying they are taking me to small Claims Court for £74.90 but i have had NO service from them.

I'm starting to panic - does this still apply please? The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013

    Dear all...

Please can anyone reading this forum who has fallen into this trap follow Kev100 advice, the moe of us do it the more likely chance we have of stopping him

    Advice is

1, contact Action Fraud police and report him
2, contact Hertfordshire trading standards and report it
3, contact CAB and report it
4, Ignore any and all threats from Whatcott
5, If you get a court summons (he does issue them as a tool to frighten people to pay up) then defend it.
6, If he has taken any money from your account either knowingly or unknowingly and has not performed a service then call you bank and make a chargeback claim (you need to keep chasing your bank and insisting they do the chargeback as banks are useless at this)
7 Read up on the distance selling cancellation regulation, specifically for off premises contracts as these are the only ones that are in force read from Regulation 27 here http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2013/3134/made

    thanks

    Hi

I placed an order for an EPC with a company called Low Cost ECP but didn't have to pay anything up front. By the time they rang back the next day, I had decided to use somebody else, so cancelled the order on the phone. A few minutes later they sent me an email:

I doubt it, he hasn't been online since September 2015.

Same with most members, they get advice and then you never see them again.

That's true, I'm not particularly a member of the community here, I came here for a specific cause & once it was sorted I don't have a need to frequent the forums :) But quite a few people have contacted me via PMs & I've replied to them all with what worked for me. In a nutshell, tell him to b***er off, tell him you won't be paying anything, and tell him clearly under what regulations this applies. Also suggest following Kev100's advice on the steps to take to avoid this scumbag.
